I haven't seen "Batman" yet but did make it to "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith." And while I'm not a fan of batcave dwelling either, I thought it was appropriate in this latest chapter of SW to explain how and why Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader.
Again without giving away too much, Anakin's actions--which were intended to prevent an outcome he feared--turned out to be the catalyst for bringing about the very outcome he desperately hoped to avoid.
It seems that even long ago, in a galaxy far far away, the characters were wrestling with issues of happiness, and how their actions bring about certain consequences.

I'd like to see BATMAN, but haven't yet. I went to THE FANTASTIC FOUR last weekend, and enjoyed it. It has several problems--to much emphasis on the Human Torch (played well by Chris Evans, although he's too old for the part), and too much pandering to teenage boys. Jessica Alba is too young for Sue Storm, but she does a nice job with the part. Michael Chilklis is very good as THE THING. Julian McMahon is not one of my favorite actors--he always seems too glib and insincere, but since his character is glib and insincere, he's perfect as Victor Von Doom. Reed Richards always struck me as one of the least interesting superheros around, but Ioan Gruffuyd (an actor I like very much) makes a valiant effort at giving him a personality.
I think I would have liked this movie much more if I hadn't seen SPIDERMAN and THE INCREDIBLES before it. Which is a problem with THE FANTASTIC FOUR. They were the first superheroes with real problems, but the first of anything is rarely the best. Things need to be refined, and the idea was/is presented best by SPIDERMAN.

Yes, I really liked Spiderman. I thought Spiderman 2 was even better than the first one. Spiderman's a good example of when delving into the character's interior done as part of moving the plot along works to make the character and the movie more interesting.
I also liked The Incredibles and I wasn't expecting to. One movie lately I thought was pretty sick all round was Mr and Mrs Smith.

I also enjoyed both Spiderman movies, and surprisingly for a sequel, the second even more than the first. Here's a case where delving into Peter Parker's background and personal problems was less a trip into a batcave and more of an attempt to show that so-called "superheroes" are flawed and vulnerable characters we can relate to, and not omnipotent larger-than-life beings.

I've noticed my avatar changes. My favourite so far is the monster thing that looks like he's getting ready to barf. I'll call him 'Pook' after my brothers cat that lives with me - similar expression and barfing behaviour.

Batman's Tibet - I never thought of it; but yes, that was tired ... or was it? I think the comic went there before Tibet was "in" yes? So while it suffers for all the others that followed along, it should be able to get out of the charge. That was my least favorite part of the movie & I did enjoy it as pure entertainment & was impressed by the main actor (can't recall the name).

I saw The Wedding Crashers Saturday and it was what it was. I liked it, but I have to agree, (oh, w/Roger Ebert) that the last 20 minutes was ridiculous. Before that, it was kind of fun.
Also a bit off putting, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn had these basically huge monologues, supposedly with each other, but the movie would be a head shot of whoever was talking (for ages) and then cut to the two of them. I got the impression half the film was filmed continents apart in a hotel room.
I liked Batman Begins, but then again, I walked in expecting to Hate. It. For some reason, movies I expect to be moronic are usually better than I anticipated, and movies I think are going to be wonderful never are.

Batman...was impressed by the main actor (can't recall the name). It took me a while, but now I remember the actor's name.......Christian Bale who some here might be aware of from "Laurel Canyon," "Shaft" (2000), and "American Psycho."

I am happy to report that it has cooled off in Michgan again! I was to move back home this summer but plans got changed at the last minute so we are staying put this year. I kinda don't mind the ups and downs of this loony Michigan weather. The heat and humidity it quite consistent on the east coast! The only thing I really mind in Michigan is loony Michigan drivers!!!

Well I have to say the road signs in MI are frightfully confusing to anyone out of town! They seem to be in English ..... but they are not logical.

Whereas here in California I drove the length on Hwy 1 (from SF on) once, with virtually the entire way covered w/ Men Working signs and guess what we never saw? Men working. It's not like it was late or a weekend. I think they put them up and just leave them there for the next .......not cave-in. When the cliff falls into the ocean? Or on the road? For that.
In other news, the heat wave finally broke! It was 100 plus during the day for days and didn't cool off at night at all. Yuck.

Landslide! That's it! Geez, I can imagine what I'm going to be like when I'm very, very old (as opposed to now, when I'm merely old).
