I don't remember Logan having such a good, almost photographic, memory in his earlier days, but he's really been showing an amazing ability to recall the smallest details on photos and paperwork on CI. Barek showed a little more life in this one. She's still not very compelling to watch, but even Logan didn't pop in this one. It was a good story, though. One thing I really was not keen on were all the tight camera shots (like looking in the windows of a doll house.) The camera panned too fast, too close, too often for me; it was a little disorientating and a bit irritating after a while. On the other hand, it did make for some lovely close ups of the cast

I find I'm liking the Logan/Barek episodes more as I see them--they're not compulsive viewing like the Goren/Eames episodes, but enjoyable.
This story seemed, especially for LOCI, fairly straightforward to me.
And it seems Elizabeth Berkley has found a niche playing skanky women.
This show does not offer a positive view of sibling relationships, does it?

This show does not offer a positive view of sibling relationships, does it? Patcat Well if the siblings had a positive relationship, they wouldn't wind up on the show right? ;D Kidding. Yeah, they do have some funky dysfunctional relationships on this show. I guess this episode was ok. I am starting to like Logan again. I knew it was only a matter of time. He is pretty. It was weird though. I think the parents in this episode were so flat and, well I don't know really. I just didn't like them. Its almost as if they were written in after the script was finished. I did like seeing Heather Burns though. She's so cute and a good actress.

Lost has Daddy issues, L&O has sibling issues. It's families, I tell ya.
The episode was okay. Not fabulous but servicible. I was a little distracted while watching it so I probably missed most of the finer points so a future viewing is in order.

Is it me or have they changed the font size considerably? It's not you, Duet. I think it's because they switched the show format over to widescreen. Actually, anyone have any idea as to when they did that? This was the first episode I noticed it for, but sometimes I can be rather oblivious.

This was my least favorite Logan and Barek episode so far. Not sure if it was them or the story or both, but it just seems like Noth and Sciorra were sleepwalking through the entire episode. And the story didn't do it for me on any level. I didn't believe the relationships, and it was very straightforward. Not much of a mystery. Hopefully this was just a mid-season clunker, and not an indication of what's to come.

I thought the story totally had the potential to be good, but something went wrong. It could have been the less than enthusiastic Barek or the clusterf*&% of a plot. It was a lil messy.
I try not to criticize Sciorra or her character, but she seems to be getting less and less enthusiastic, she is beyond blah and I am having issues watching her. Logan I dont have a problem with, I've enjoyed him since way back in the days on the original. He needs and deserves a better partner !!!

I think they changed the font to go with the wide screen presentation, and perhaps they did the wide screen presentation because of all the close shots. I also don't recall the show being presented in WS before. LOCIfan, wow! That bad, hu? I felt like it was a more straight forward CI, sort of like the 1st season eps. I think it's entirely possible for sibling rivalry between sisters to cause the kind of fixation Clair had on Charlie. My only complaint would be that Elizabeth Berkley fell a little flat. Sure, she was "skanky," as Patcat noted, but for a red herring, she missed the mark in just how outlandish and skanky the character should have been. Or perhaps I just love the absurd and exaggerated characters CI tends to presents us with a little too much. I actually thought Barek showed a little more life in this one. She was more alert looking, at least, and that helps tremendously. Her reaction to being told by Claire and Daniel's mother that she wasn't "a mom" could have been a little more definitive of her character, though. The smile was fake, but I couldn't tell if it just bounced right off as something she's heard before and disregards, or if the comment actually struck a nerve (assuming she has them )

I really liked this episode, Logan & Barek are starting to grow on me, I find myself looking forward to seeing them. I couldn't believe the attitude that woman had toward her kid, I can understand why the sister hated her. LOL this show makes me almost thankful that I' am an only child. Perhaps Logan worked on sharpening his skills while in 'exile', he had said in not so many words that it had been boring over on Staten Island... maybe he put the time to good use? As for Barek, she's definitely beginning to show more life & personality, I knew that if I gave her (& the writers) the chance, they would develop her character with time. SVU was also in WS & the font for the 'doink doink's' was also small, perhaps they are switching to WS presentation? If so thats ok with me, I have a WS TV!

I don't think this episode was one for the ages. Even so, I am surprised by how much I enjoy Logan. Barek is another problem altogether. She seems to not care about how she looks or about her cases. I also have a hard time understanding what she says. She mumbles often enough that I wondered if the writers are trying to portray a shut down detective. But I don't think that would make for good television so I doubt they are. Sometimes I sense that the actress would rather be someplace else. Maybe back on the Sopranos.

Work and other issues prevented me from watching this episode as it aired. I have just now gotten around to viewing my tape.
This episode is OK, so-so, saved by my increased liking of Chris Noth in the role of Mike Logan. I promised myself I won't get into any more Sciorra/Barek bashing, but I'm still having trouble understanding her speech and dialogue. I am resigned--but certainly not pleased--that this will likely be an issue for the remainder of this season.
Watching my tape, I had flashbacks of Elizabeth Berkley in "Showgirls." This episode would have been helped immeasurably with an appearance by Kyle MacLachlan to ramp up the weird/skanky factor.

I'm proud of Berkley for overcoming that dog.
I thought she would be the focal point of this ep, not the sister. The blond reels them in, while the brunette does all the work.....

;D My blond sister in law and I have sort of matching tee shirts. Hers reads, "Blonds have more fun." Mine reads, "Brunettes get better grades." I don't know if she really has more fun than I do, but I'm pretty sure I do get better grades Topic? Yeah, I think I pretty much agree with miamimaya. The stories are entertaining, and Logan is really popping. So, I don't blame Barek's boring screen presence on the writers. I think if Sciorra wants to keep her job, she better rethink the way she reads her lines and how interested she looks in everyone else's.

I agree that I've been really enjoying Logan in most eps (not this one so much, but all the others) and that Sciorra just drags him down. He seems to be having a lot of fun and he's fun to watch. It'd be terrific if he had a partner who equalled him in charisma at least. And I also agree that it's not really the writing that's at fault here, it's the performance. Sciorra makes choices in how she delivers her lines, etc... and all of them convey boredom, lack of interest and commitment. At least to me. I can see the character of Barek being very interesting if given another "take" by a different actress. Of course, I don't think they'd ever just recast the role...
