Hi, Nikki... are you still reading, even if not posting much right now? I know if you are, this subject will get your attention! ;D Does Canada get PBS stations? In any case, if there are other Gregory Hines fans about – and for those who like Jerry Orbach – there’s a new PBS show you might enjoy. PBS has been running a new “Great Performances” special this week, called “Broadways’s Lost Treasures II.” I just found out about it, but fortunately, in our area, at least, they’re showing it again tomorrow (Sat., 8/14/04). There are apparently clips of performances done for Tony Awards shows. The local paper’s TV Guide says: “Gregory Hines... ...is gloriously recalled via a lively medley from his own Tony-winning triumph, “Jelly’s Last Jam,”” And: “Also of note: four Tony-winning male stars performing their show-stopping tunes from original Broadway productions... ...and “Chicago” (Jerry Orbach crooning “All I Care About Is Love”)...” Jerry Orbach is also one of the co-hosts of the show. Check local listings for PBS stations in your area.

Observer, you certainly got my attention. Thanks for the information. I'm sure that most of the major cities in Canada get PBS station. They don't mind doing cross-border fund drives. I receive two PBS stations in my area. One is from Detroit, WTVS; the second is from Seattle, KCTS. I'm also a subscriber with KCTS. They send me their magazine/schedule. KCTS is showing "Broadway's Lost Treasures II" beginning September 12th. I'm not sure about the other one. Check out Mr. Orbach, then and now: www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/shows/treasures2/index.html

Well, I hope they show it around here in September, too. The station that was supposed to show it on 8/14 showed something else instead, and I never did find a showing of it. I had given up looking for it, but the fact that some stations are running it starting yesterday gives me new hope, and I’ll look for it again.

Maybe your station was saving it for its pledge drive? I believe most stations are offering the DVD/VHS versions as a pledge gift. You can also pledge online.
I believe the best way to find out when it's airing in your area is to go to pbs.org and check under the broadcast schedule. It'll ask for you to enter either your ZIP or your State in order to give you listings for your area and search on from there.
