LOL... I'm not "cold" water friendly...I prefer not freezing my "___"(fill in blank) Off! So, am I the only one who is getting tired of all the re-runs on most of the stations right now.? I know we're in between Sweeps rightn now...but the lack of new episodes is starting to grate on my nerves. *grrr* Ah well, there is always TCM to watch, eh Techguy? *grin*

MelTex, I'm glad your water adventure ended happily and on a humorous note.
Yes, TCM has gotten me through many a dark and stormy night. And some days too.

ahem hem .......
I want to take this time to thank Warner Brothers, Buggs Bunny and most especially ELMER FUDD for the inspiration they have given me. Due to their extreme dedication to funny-ness; and my leisure during childhood - I was able to come up with the laurel WINNING Caption This WINNER.
ah sweet glory.

Woo-hoo, yeah Meteh-wah! I've been singing "The Mighty Casey" so much that I expect the stadium scoreboard to flash the very last clip from "What's Opera Doc?"--"What'd you expect in an opera, a happy ending?" Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit...
Well, just dropped my first course--well, first underway one that is, I've piddled with schedules in the summer before. Basically I didn't want to do the midterm, which is due Friday. I know that sounds wimpy, normally I'd make myself suck it up but I'm sick and tired and my schedule has just been too chaotic. I enjoy the films in that class, but I don't have the energy to do the dinky little assignments--and with me it's the little niggling things that drive me over the edge, not the big major ones. Besides, it's just an elective, save my stress for the worthwhile stuff. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to talk to the professor, this really was a last-minute decision, but I've emailed her and soon as she gets back in town I'll go during office hours.
Cold and rainy and yucky out--stadium was cancelled for tonight, although the plan now is Thursday and Friday. At least tonight I can actually (gasp) get some work done and go to bed. Hopefully I'll have time to pop in a movie, I think "Riverdance" or one of the Michael Flatley's would be appropriate. Even without tomorrow's date, they make me feel good.
Later all, Catbird

Never painted my tootsies. I always seem to like it when others have pretty colored tootsies - but just think my feet are not pretty enough to be asking for attention!

I myself stick with clear polish/hardener--it just chips away so easy and I don't have time for touch-ups.
But, luck of the Irish, the B***h is gone!! Y'all heard my rant about the Roomie last month, well, today she packed her stuff up. There are still a few things like a DVD player in here, but for all intent's and purposes she is out!!!
Something I left out of my NY gush. I had barely gotten off the plane when I checked my cell phone messages and heard a rather nasty little tiff because I had locked her out. Now, the night before I left she apparently went upstairs to stay in a friend's room--makes sense, because I was going to be slamming suitcases around early in the morning. I left and locked the door, on the common-sense belief that she would have her key with her, especially because she 1) didn't actually tell me she was in the dorm, not even a note on the board, 2) did not say when she'd be back and 3) if you know your roommate is leaving, would you want the door wide open so someone can walk out with your stuff? I had a camera stolen out of the room last year, I'm cautious. Anyways, apparently she did not have her key with her and felt it necessary to call me and leave a rather vitriolic rant once she got back in--like I could have done anything from New York. So I left a message explaining my reasons, I acknowledged her frustration but didn't try to apologize for my actions. But I was so upset about this brat that I was in tears when I called home. It had gotten really bad, even before that I could barely stand the thought of returning to school and dealing with her, I wouldn't want to leave home. But I've been a nice dormmate, I have not said anything to anyone in the dorm because that's how rumors and nastiness pops up, which means I havne't really let out my frustration except here and my parents.
Anyways, had fun over break, managed to set her aside. Got back, and did not speak to her at all. Last night she carried her sheets and stuff upstairs, and while she was non-responsive a friend of hers explained that neither of them had any work and it was a slumber party. Cool, I thought, I don't have to deal with her, but I simply said "Have fun."
Tonight she comes in, we don't speak, I'm happily browsing online for a while. When I turn around her stuff is in boxes and packed up--she's moving upstairs. I asked if there was naything making her uncomfortable and got much hemming about how quiet and unsocial this floor is. I rather pointedly followed with I meant between you and me".
"I'm not comfortable living with you."
"Why is that, do you think?" So she brings up the locking thing from break; apparently I "deliberately chose to piss off the roommate, and there's resentment in the dorm about that." As I pointed out to her, quite frankly, even before that there was a very blatant difference between how she acted with other people and the way she acted with me. I told her it seemed as if she resented my saying "hello", and I trailed off expectantly.
About a minute of silence, she gets up and goes to her closet. Oh, she's not getting away that easily. "I was simply trying to be courteous, was I not coming across that way?" More (pointed) silence before she finally says that there was no relationship between us, we were just sharing space.
"Well, I didn't expect you to unburden your soul, but I always tried to say hello and ask how you were, you know, just to be polite." SHe gave me a blank look. "There's no relationship between us, I didn't see the point in having a conversation." "Even if you're not having a conversation with someone, seems to me the least you can do is be courteous and civil." Oho, I may not have been ugly, but I was a blunt little ice queen, I was so proud of me(!).
"Yeah, I know, and I might not have been very good about that." (No shit Sherlock! I refrained from commenting. I was trying to maintain some shred of decent behavior.) Some minutes later I asked what she meant about that "resentment in the dorm", apparently she had "expressed her frustration" and people in our particular dorm just don't lock the doors. I repeated my thing about common sense, and added that locking up is simply part of dorm life. I also said rather pointedly that I didn't see what the rest of the dorm had to do with the two of us.
And those were the last words spoken. She hasn't been down in a while, if she doesn't pick up her DVD player by tomorrow I'll leave a note. While I resent her assertion that I'm malicious enough to "deliberately piss off the roommate", I'm not going to force the isssue because there's not much reasoning with her if she has that set in her head. I'm a bit disappointed that I'll be in solitary confinement for the next two months, am I so unbearable? BUt at this point I'm not about to beat myself up over a timing thing, who else would move out with 7 weeks left in the semester? Hey, I get a whole 'nother desk to spread out on, a I got an extra bed to keep stuff under, sit on for TV, etc. Just imagine Catbird doing a smug, self-satisfied mental happy-dance. And thanks for letting me talk this out you guys, 'ppreciate it.

Well, I didn't paint my fingernails green, but I'm wearing one of my green jackets today! ;D Catbird, I'd be happy having a whole room to myself too. Glad you don't have to put up with her anymore.

For those that are Irish this poem is for you For shamrocks, shillelaghs and leprechauns too The lasses are dancing to a tune of a reel There is ham and cabbage, I can hear the pig squeal We will sing and we will dance, lets all have a smile And hoist up our ale to the emerald isle Happy St Patrick's Day everyone

All I had was a green bottle cap from my Coke bottle today...LOL. I just carried it everywhere!
Hey, has anyone ever tried the "Green Beer?" They've been serving it down at the local pubs even down here in TX, but I hear its big in NY on St. Patrick's day.
Wonder if it tastes any different than the regualr brew...(not that I even like beer anyway.. but hey, the green is alluring...*grin*) ;D

Green isn't my color, it doesn't do a thing for me. Especially in beer, eggs, and other assorted food and drink that have been altered for St. Paddy's Day. It makes the items look like bacteriology experiments gone very bad, a most unappetizing thought.
Green also brings to mind the sci-fi oldie "Soylent Green," another unappetizing image.

We had a tea party in the dorm, because the water heater was busted we had about 7 people bring their hotpots down. I wore a green turtleneck, otherwise the big event was the snow this morning. Big fat flakes that look so much fun, of course it's perfect when you're stuck in class but by the time you get out it's quit falling and turned to rain. Nothing left on the ground. Never did get to watch Riverdance.
Later all, take care. Catbird
