yes, text is always harsher than a face to face conversation. Thanks amberlight for your full explaination of your ease into posting.
Also, a first view of this board seems so wrong to what many new people have stated .... I make a zillion spelling errors, but I usually have very good grammar - that is just my thing. I was Never a good speller & I don't take the time to run the spell checker on my posts. This has lead to many a poke in my cyber-ribs! Like one sole instead of soul one day oops!
So for me, I tank on spelling and excel in grammar. Others may be opposit from me.
Another example using me: I am a poster that doesn't have complicated posts for the most part. I post on my reactions, how I feel, my exaulted opinion on something - I give big picture type comments - sweeping things - stereotypes - general stuff & I am happy with that & that is how I think/process things. Many others on this board see more details; dig for the roots of things, disect things to the structural details. Makes it all fun to me; I read every word.
I usually smile to myself when someone says how "intellectual" all the posters are on here. Some are sure; but I am outspoken and very smart - but I don't see myself labled as intellectual & I bumble along like the best and worst post can.
I frankly can't remember my own state of mind when I started posting on boards. I do remember I wanted to blab about the show Big Brother once, went to their office real-time chat area .... the posts scrolled as you typed ..... I typed a few things, got no response. Stayed and read for a while, posted a direct question - got a quick answer. Read for some more & decide to leave - posted "good bye" and waiting (other's leaving got a slew of goodbyes) nothing. So I posted "isn't anyone going to tell me goodbye?" and then got my slew of goodbyes. Don't really know my point other than to just be yourself and to ask for what you want if others don't recognized your needs at once. I think the more posters on a subject, the more interesting.
