After checking nbcumv.com, I discovered what I already expected--wall to wall Winter Olympics coverage in prime time on Sunday February 12. I assume the same for Sundays February 19 and 26.
So now I'm wondering what members here plan to do on those Sunday evenings without CI. Are you going to watch the Olympics regardless of what sports are scheduled, will you watch only some sports (if so, which ones?), or do you plan not to watch any Olympics at all (if so, what will you do instead?)
For my part, I plan to catch as much ice hockey action as possible. I also enjoy speed skating and short track, but will tune in occasionally to some of the other events such as freestyle skiing and snowboarding if they don't conflict with a Oscars movie I want to watch and/or record on TCM. If I opt for a movie, I'll probably also go online to get the latest news and stories of completed events.
Here's the official website to follow all the Olympics news and action: www.nbcolympics.com/index.html

Does anyone know when L&O:CI will return with all new episodes? When I read articles about the death of John Spencer of West Wing, they said West Wing would not return until March 19 due to specials and the Olympics. Is this going to be the case with L&O:CI? If it is that would mean the new episodes would air straight through May with no repeats since at that point there will only be 10 or 11 weeks left with the current TV season. So far, 12 episodes have aired and according to www.thefutoncritic.com the show has a season order of 23. Does anyone know if L&O:CI will return on 3/12 or 3/19? Regardless that is a long stretch given the fact that only 3 episodes will have aired from early December to mid March. And they wonder about the ratings? No continuity!

Futoncritic.com lists this in the season's top 10 episodes: "Six Feet Under: Everyone's Waiting" (HBO)Too bad the title is already taken. It would have made a great title as sendoff for the final chapter in the CI Nicole Wallace saga.

USA is also showing some Olympics as well, so I anticipate the usual reruns of LOCI will not be available.
I'll watch figure skating, but the appeal of people throwing themselves down ice just escapes me. And the luge is just weird.

Hockey, all snowboarding, some skiing, luge, bobsledding and skeleton, along with some speed skating. Everything else wont be watched by me, cuz I do have my San Jose Sharks to follow, plus I have dvd's to fill any void left by the olympics taking up my precious CI time.

So there won't be any Sharks games or any other NHL games during this time.

I'd love to see Ms. Kwan win the gold, but I'm not holding my breath. But it would be very cool. She's always seemed to be a very class act.

I will watch because I LOVE the snow and I LOVE Italy .... So I will tune in for the outdoor stuff, and catch what I catch as far as watching. I have never really gotten into the Olympics, but I am not anti; just uninterested.

So now I'm wondering what members here plan to do on those Sunday evenings without CI...Catching the CBC's coverage of either Ice Hockey or Figure Skating, whichever one is on. But then, the CTV will more than likely be still airing CI episodes in the regular Sunday timeslot...

I'll watch some of the Olympics if I'm in the mood. Whatever they are showing is fine with me. I like most of it, but hate having to give up LOCI for it. Most likely, I will watch tapes of LOCI. I might even treat myself to an LOCI marathon of Olympic portions, and give myself the "gold".

Olympics, pshaw. This CI fan will be busying herself with research projects, papers, and generally doing the work that I ought to have been doing all along. Although at least I won't feel guilty about throwing in a movie on lazy Sundays.

Very sad that Michelle Kwan withdrew. I don't think she had a snowall's chance in hell to win anyway. Call me cynical but, I don't think an American will win this year. I think the odds are stacked against them, politically. At least the ice dancers ended the USA's 40 year medal drought in Ice Dancing. They grabbed a Silver. ;D Canadian ice skater Elvis Stokjo (stoy-ko) skaked to a Silver medal with a pulled groin/injury in 1998, so Kwan could have skated, given how direly she has wanted that Gold medal. I think Kwan knew she didn't stand a chance for that Gold medal and said "Screw ya'll, I'm outta here!!" Maybe she'll make a brillant comeback and finally get that ever elusive medal in 2010 and be the oldest skater (at age 29) to win the Gold medal.
