www.visi.com/juan/congress/then click on your state or put in your info ..... This way for all the topics we discuss, we have a way to reach out and talk at someone. Would be nice if we ever got some actual communication going on!

Oh, boy, are they in trouble!!! I am on a rampage about State and Federal funding as related to health insurance and am just looking for folks to 'reach out to' heehee.
I just went to a Dentist who does not take either Medicaid or Medicare, the only insurance I have now. Why? The ONE Dentist within sixty miles who does take it is on vacation and also is about a-hundred-and-twenty-years OLD and crazy!! So I paid $280 to have two teeth pulled.
Can't get mad at the medical establishment. They get SCREWED by the system if they get paid at all. Mostly it takes about a year for them to get anything.
Must....stop....now.....Getting....dizzy............foaming......at.........mouth.............!

I've actually been reading about our health care system and some theories to keep it affordable and NOT governementally controlled (not medicare etc - but national healthcare)
National Health care countries .... while general care may be more accessable ...... they don't cover many old age things as not worth it when the "patient" will be dead in a few years .....the USA has the best quality of living with a longer life expectancy - so something is going right so far ..... let's see how it handles all the old baby boomers.

Hum, I always thought the US was worst as far as treating the elderly was concerned.
I've sent emails to my reps, and they don't answer. They must get tons of letters and such, though, so I don't expect them to respond to me saying, "Please vote No," or "Please vote Yes," on certain issues. I also don't expect any reply to my last email supporting Russ Feingold's censure for Bush and for the impeachment of Bush, but I expect they are tallying a list of how many are for and against.
They DO care to be re-elected. And people who care enough to send letters are people who surely care enough to go out and vote. If you write them, they will listen, even if they don't respond.

I'm shock that you guys don't get replies from your congressman/woman. I almost always do. Sometimes the reply is a "blah blah blah", at least I know someone handled my letter long enough to get my name and address. Anyway, do not quit writing. Believe it or not, for every "one" letter they receive, they count it as 100 letters, knowing that many people think the same way, but just don't write.
While the President has never replied, when I sent a sympathy card to the Bush family after thier dog died, I actually got a note from Laura Bush. Go figure.

It's not necessarily sick people who don't get the attention, it's POOR, sick people.
I do agree, Metella, that National Health Care is not the answer. I just had this discussion with a neighbor after she watched me search for two weeks for a local Dentist who takes State and Social Security insurances. With a system like National Health Care, yes, I may have been able to find a local caregiver. I also would have had to wait six months for an appointment because everyone else with a toothache would be on that list.
My mom told me years ago that this country needs people in poverty for our economy to operate. I don't completely understand this politically but I am feeling it!

Here's something funny: all three ads at the top of the page concern how to catch people committing fraud on the system. Oh, sweet ignorance! This neighbor I argued with has a brother who is guilty of fraud. Living off the state, working under the table so he won't have to pay child support. Meanwhile it's the people who can't easily fight for themselves who are getting screwed every which way and sideways twice! We need another Martin Luther King, Jr.
