maybe, I feel so used. ha ha I just wanted to use my heritage seeds and do my part for eco-diversity. Oh well - I may pick up a pack of reg seeds on end of season sale for next year. Third time charm & all that!

I can't grow anything. Even store bought plants die on me. I think gardening is a talent. And I have none.

If you stick to things that are native to your geographic area you will do much better and it is better for the environment.
I was visiting my husband's grandmother in Tucson, AZ and couldn't believe how many people had manicured lawns in front of their houses. Don't they know they live in the desert!!! You can't imagine how much water they were wasting trying to keep a lawn up in that environment.

Get a bird feeder, Hang it in a sunny spot, and use black oil sunflower seeds, let the birds come and enjoy. Soon some of the sunflowers will grow up to about 5 - 6 feet. Then the birds will pick from the flower the seeds inside the petals. It's beautiful. And the birds become just like your kids. they let you know when they are hungry!

Yay LOCIfan!
Funny, we just got hit by the gardening bug as well. Too late to try doing anything in the ground, but we're big on the pots on the slab. (My mother refuses to call the concrete square outside our back door a "patio".) I'm into herbs, makes me feel like Cadfael. We just yesterday bought several tomato plants--homegrown tomatos are a necessity in the summer-- peppermint, parsley, basil, and catnip. Cleo now has a new habit, it's so funny to watch her rub her face all over the leaves on that last one!
Hooray for reprieves--I'll be working at a movie theater this summer. Not the most glamorous or resume-boosting job, but it is a paycheck and it should allow some down time. Anyways, they don't need me to start until Friday, so I have an extra week or so to putter around the house, hang out with friends before we go our separate ways, etc.
Later all, take care.

Interesting summer job! What will you be doing at the theatre?

actually at your stage in life; any job is a resume booster that is really a good one - that way you can get discounts, people watch, eat lots of popcorn and give your brain a break while still having some cash

Catbird, another perk in addition to those Metella mentioned is, you could be one of the first to see "The Break-Up" which basically is a Vince Vaughn/Jennifer Aniston star vehicle but has Vincent D'Onofrio in the cast. Not a bad way to spend a hot summer day, in an air-conditioned theater!

Unfortunately, Techguy and Caseyswife, neither of those movies interest me in the least! Besides, if we're working we can't be sitting on our lazy butts in the theater, but I'm pretty sure we get a couple of passes. I think I'll just be floating as needed--tickets, concession stand, sweeping up, etc.
Laundry and cleaning out my room. Blah. I'd like to watch movies and read, but no such luck. Later all.

Metella. Maybe it's becuause you tried rearing a plant in captivity. It's like raising a lion cub in the zoo only to let him out into the wild when he's fully grown. The slightest breeze will knock him over.

Alrighty then - I'll just toss the seeds in the flower area and go for a look in a few months. Can't have a worse result, can I?
