Hey, Rom, aren't you excited that VDO will be in your part of the world soon? Be sure and keep us informed of his activities in Oz!

Congrats to your nephew and his bride, madger. And your niece is going to be in Knoxville, Tennessee?? Tell her to watch out for all those insane Vol fans and try not to wear too much orange! caseyswife Orange as in bad taste, or is there a prison nearby?

The University of Tennessee's colors are Orange and White. So, you're right maher, it is for bad taste!! I am most defnitely NOT a Vol fan - when those East Tennessee weirdos got the area code to spell V-O-L, that was it for me! There may be a prison nearby as well, for all the UT athletes who keep getting arrested! Sorry, I just hate those guys.... caseyswife

I really am out of it, I had no idea that Mrs. Techguy wife had tests and such going on. Sorry for being behind, Techguy, but please know I'm thinking of you and her. Caseyswife, I'm thinking of you too. Cyberspace has its limitations, but y'all let us know if there's anything we can do. Best wishes for everyone.
I know restaurants on Tobacco Road that, during basketball season, literally ask people not just "Smoking or non-smoking?" but "Duke or Carolina?" So I know a bit about rivalries!
Well, I got a (better) summer job. The very first day I worked at the theater I found out that my Mom's boss was looking for some part-time office help during the summer--even better is that I'll be working in a separate section so my Mom and I won't be in each other's face all the time. (I love her, but if we spent so much time together it could get, well, interesting.) I'll be doing all the clerical stuff I have experience in, and at darned good pay. Of course, notice and all that requires I finish out my scheduled shifts this week, but starting tomorrow I'm at the new place. The people at the theater were nice, but for a huge increase in money and regular office hours, well, it's too good an opportunity to pass up. So yay for stuff working out!

Congrats, Catbird! And thanks for your good thoughts! My results should be in Monday or Tuesday. I will be sure and let everyone know how it turns out. I am currently jobless, applying for disability (which should come through in, oh, THREE more years!) due to my back surgery. Wish I could find something to do from home though. Just so I can have my own $$ to buy Vincent / CI stuff and hockey tickets! Think CI has any cyber jobs open?? And Maher>> I heard they are going to reinstate the lacrosse team, due to the case being pretty much unsubstantiated at this point. caseyswife

But maybe paidsurveysonline.com (I think I got that right) might be up your alley, if they are not sheisters.

what sort of work-at-home would you like to do, caseyswife? Pretty much anything. I have a little bit of experience in accounting, copy editing, payroll, etc. When I was working, I worked for my Mom's restaurant (doing pretty much anything and everything.) Didn't finish my degree, so I am not accredited for any particular career. Going back to school would be ideal, but I can't hack hauling stuff around a campus (b/c of my back) and don't have my own car. And I have yet to find an accredited online university that offers an English major, so there you have it. I am off to see 'X-Men 3' with The Hub. Check you guys later!! caseyswife

I know a little about the NC/Duke rivalry. I live in Indiana where the allegiances are between Indiana University and Purdue.

If you already have a jump start on bookkeeping and accounting - learn yourself Quickbooks and start taking on-line college courses.
Those courses really do get respect now, it is a more accepted way for "mature" students to earn their degrees - then you can present yourself with the training and the experience of some realworld work.
You should be pulling in some income in a few months of getting the degree.

If you need to be on campus, you don't have to carry your books or even remain uncomfortable during lessons if sitting still for long periods is uncomfortable for you. The school will make accomodations for you based on your disability and they will even pay for this too. You should contact the special learning department to see what options you have. I had a roomate with a learning disability. She couldn't read like a regular person so she had all her lessons taped and woud only take oral exams.

Just a little update for all of you who have been supporting and sending me good thoughts after my biopsy: Talked to my Doc's nurse yesterday and she said he had the pathology report on his desk and would call as soon as he could. I am taking a little relief in the fact that if something serious had showed up, he would have called straight away. Will let you all know when I find out anything more. And thanks to all of you for your support and prayers - you have really helped keep my spirits up! caseyswife P.S. And thanks to Sirenna, Patcat, Maher, and Matella for the job and disability advice. As soon as my bandages come off, I am going to look into things!

I sprained my ankle playing volleyball this weekend. So I was stuck inside for most of it But every cloud has a silver lining. TVO was showing Jane Austen movies - so fun!

Poor, Sirenna! I hope you get better soon. Does this selection of Jane Austen movies include the Emma Thompson version of Sense & Sensibility? It's been on quite a few channels on the last two weeks out in the Vancouver area.
