Hey Sirenna, hope you feel better, good opportunity to watch All About Eve though. I married off my little 6'4" nephew this weekend, the rehearsal dinner was just around the corner from Christie and Delancey and I had planned to make a pilgrimage, but I had the brilliant idea of walking 1.5 miles in pumps, I had to buy flip-flops the next day, and I won't be wearing closed shoes for a while. The Hotel we stayed at is right next door to the WTC ground zero, we were shocked when we opened the curtains and saw it, the church where they were married is called St Paul's and was miraculously unscathed, they were a sanctuary for first responders, it was very, very moving. Just as a side note, my cousin is married to Sonia Manzano, better known as Maria on sesame street, she had all her Emmy's shoved under the piano, like oh, well, here's another one, it was pretty funny. She mentioned she was in an epi of the mother-ship, she doesn't even know the title, she plays a Mexican witness to a murder, and it was an epi with whatshername? Rohm, I guess I'll have to start watching reruns.

my foot's much better, thanks. So you know the Sesame Street Lady. That's very cool. You should add yourself to the six degrees of separation from Vincent thread...

Aww, thanks y'all! For a 21st birthday it was unbelievably tame. My supervisor took me to lunch (a nearby Cajun restaurant, blackened trout with crab meat topping, yum!), but it was a rough day at work for everyone except me, due to a big project. My Dad and brother are just coming back from the Bahamas, so family celebration is postponed until tomorrow. So Mom and I went out to dinner, and I had one of those desert-type drinks (coffee with Kahlua, Frangelico, Bailey's). What? I hate beer and wine. Tell you one thing, it sucks to have all your friends out of town and a birthday in the summer.
At least I got paid, yesterday for the office and today I picked up my paycheck for the whopping two weeks at the movies. And now I have to sort through my dorm stuff, because the parental units pulled rank and decided that I will be moving out of my room into the unbelievably small crap-space next to the washer/dryer. Currently being used as storage, this room is smaller than my dorm at school, and feels like a jail cell. Ugh.
Sorry to gripe, it's been a long week. But thank you for the birthday wishes, they mean a lot.
Take care all,
--Catbird
ETA: I was really crabby yesterday, sorry. Thanks again for being so sweet! It was kind of funny at the dentist Thursday, because he noticed the date in my records and he and the nurse seemed surprised that I would give up my "special day" to come have my teeth cleaned. Actually I never mind going to the dentist, almost enjoy it; besides they're packed slam full so I had to take the slot they had. I think Mom felt guilty about my birthday being put on hold, because she bought me a little cappucino cake from the hippies-with-money organic store. (Oh yum that was good!) We also tried the cherry wine, which is sweet enough I can enjoy it more than regular wine, but don't worry about any wild partying on my end. After a couple sips of even light alcohol my stomach gets a tight burning feeling.
But my father and brother are back from the keys--tanned as anything, wanting to go back, and loaded with cool little souvenirs. Tonight we go out for family celebration, and my mother is threatening me with a camera for my first (official) margarita. Good grief.

Oh Catbird! Happy, happy birthday!! I'm sorry this is late, I've been on vacation. We took the kids to an amusement park where they rode their very first "big" roller coasters. I almost cried when we got to the line for one of the biggest and they both were tall enough to get on. Of course they both wanted to ride in the very front, and I fretted so much about it, I almost scared them out of it. They were glad that they were braver than I, because they wanted to get right back in line and love telling the story. My little moppets aren't so little anymore ETA, caseyswife and Techguy, I hope all went well with those biopsies

Trisha, one of my wife's biopsies came up positive so she's going to have surgery. We're both going to a consultation with the surgeon this coming Friday June 23 to find out more details about the schedule and get some pre-op counselling. We sure could use some more prayers and good thoughts right about now.

Hey Everyone! Finally got a call from the Doc and wanted to share my results.
Good news first: No cancer, no cirrhosis, no infectious hepatitis (A, B, or C), no fatty liver disease, or scar tissue.
Now to the 'fair to middling' news. The condition I have is called Granulomatous Hepatitis. Basically it is an auto immune disorder that causes little blister type things on my liver and causes some mild fibrosis. The doctor said that on a scale of one to four, with four being the worst, my condition is at a 1. The medication he has me on is helping bring down my enzyme levels and he doubts that I will need another biopsy in the foreseeable future. He also said that although it is doubtful that I will ever need a transplant, my condition will require monitoring the rest of my life and that at I will need regular blood work, biopsies once every five to six years, and medication.
Although I would rather not have anything wrong, it seems that this condition is just more of an annoyance at this stage and hopefully with medication and monitoring, it will stay in check and not cause any further problems. My doctor is going to send my results to a hematologist, just to double check his diagnosis, but he doesn't believe the condition warrants any other treatment besides what he has prescribed.
Thank you for all your support and good wishes. There have been quite a few days over the last weeks that this board has been a life line of sorts, helping to cheer me up and keep my mind off of things. I truly appreciate all of your posts and pm's and I will never forget your kind words and offers of encouragement!
Love to all, caseyswife

Techguy - I am so sorry that your news didn't come back as good as you and the Mrs. had hoped. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Both my parents are cancer survivors and I know how scary and frightning the next weeks will be. Try to stay positive and remember that we are all here for you and your wife if you need us. Anything you need, just ask.
*Big warm hugs to you and the Mrs.* caseyswife

Techguy, I'm rooting for the Mrs. I don't want to seem like I'm belittling what you are going through, but cancer doesn't have a capital c any more, treatments are much better and less traumatic than a few years ago. My sister's hair just grew back, and it is gorgeous, I had thyroid cancer and a malignant melanoma, the worst part is not knowing, you and your wife will find you have strength you never imagined, and we are all here for you, if you need to vent, please feel free to do so, on the board or PMs, I think I can speak for all of us, we'll listen, 'cause you be the man.

Caseywife, sounds like a pain, but better than the alternatives, liver cancer is bad news. What I said to Techguy applies to you too. If you get frustrated, anxious or just want to vent any one of us, or the whole board will together will be here for you. madger
