I'm going with Joe Biden. He's a Democrat with brass ones and he even LOOKS like a president. And he has the good sense to go on Real Time with Bill Maher. I believe his website is uniteourstates.com.

God, I haven't even thought about it... The Dems don't seem to have any sort of front runner (besides Rodham Clinton) and that scares me. Biden is okay, but his comment last week about people from India always being in a 7-11 or Dunkin' Donuts was pretty stupid. (Not that saying something stupid automatically disqualifies anyone from being President! ) If the Unuseful Senator Frist (R - TN) gets elected I am moving to Canada and giving up my citizenship. And I am dead serious. caseyswife

Last night on "Countdown with Keith Olbermann," they played a soundbite of Biden in his home state talking about how large the Indian population had grown. He said something along the lines of "Well, you can't go into a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts without running into them."
There may be a clip of it at the shows website. I haven't checked it today...

I can't think of anyone specific at the moment, but saying something stupid sure hasn't been an impediment to getting elected President, most especially recently. ;D

Caseyswife, why settle for the US Presidency when I already have a more important--and enjoyable--position as Grand Poobah of Polls?
And I'm also keeping a close watch on my post count, so as to make #1000 uniquely special!

I would consider Gore again; rodham clinton is a messed up freaky thing & I would have to think about Canada for myself if that got elected.

Well, my daughter keeps saying she needs to be in charge for just 2 weeks, with me as vice-prez. I personally believe that unlikely event will trigger the Apocalypse, since it's a Rule Of Life that two redheads in the same room for more than 2 minutes can cause a rip in the time/space continuum.

I think it was Asimov who said you shouldn't have a president who wasn't dragged to office kicking and screaming. Unfortunately, what it takes to wanna be president ain't what we want.

I find myself quite impressed with Barbara Boxer of California. Don't see her running, but she has impressed me on several issues, including mental health care for veteran's of the Iraq War. I would vote for Hillary if she runs. But, honestly, I don't want her to. I think she alienates too many potential voters. Besides people who just don't like her, her views, or her husband, she eliminates those who just won't vote for a female president, no matter what. And then we end up with another Republican dips##t who only takes care of millionaires and flunkies.
Wouldn't mind Gore running again - he seems to have relaxed and become more comfortable with himself and I think that could make all the difference. But, I really don't see him doing it. And I can't say that I blame him after the way he got screwed in 2000.

Considering who I see out there, I still think my daughter is a good candidate. She's a little high-spirited though, if you thought GWB had a loose trigger finger...

I dunno. My mom and I are just hoping and praying that Obama will be a contender in 2012. Lord knows he's not experienced enough to do it in '08, much as we cheer and pump our fists for him.
I'm not up on the Democrats. I don't dislike Hillary Clinton, but I agree she's too polarizing--things are risky enough without the female/Clinton mess getting dragged in.
I don't dislike McCain, but ever since he spoke at Liberty University I've been worried. Couldn't he have acknowledged he was pandering? "Yes, I know what I said and I still have my concerns about certain positions Mr. Falwell holds, but people in this country have many different views and beliefs and we need to learn to work with each other." Something along those lines would have been tolerable.
For anybody interested, ABC news does a "This Week All Week" online feature (goes up around Friday, I think), just to say a bit about the week's events. Every week they have "It's Never Too Early", a couple-minute bit in which some political analyst--who, bless his heart, could not be a more stereotypical dweeb if he tried-- talks about who's up, who's down, and the possible competitors for '08.
I have to fight the urge to start singing Guys and Dolls, is it sad I've already got the first couple lines? "Ya see the choice is plain/they're goin' John McCain/Any other prez would be quite insane!" I need help.

PS: Somebody sent me a joke email about the surge in illegal immigration: of liberals swarming into Canada. 2 1/2 pages of hilarity. I just might be one of them in a year or two.
