I didn't mind the episode, I thought Deakins understated farewell suited his character. However, at least he got a farewell. Carver and Barek left at the same time, and no one knows what happened, they simply disappeared. BTW, I loved Alex's WOO-HOO. She does deadpan so well.

I agree with you about the farewells or lack thereof, however, this was not Deakins' last episode. There was a final show in which he told Carver where to find his special bottle of single malt. Also, Barek left after just one season but Carver was one of the original characters, so I think he definitely deserved a farewell. The writers should have explained his departure with some, or any type of sendoff. They were, as you stated, disappearing acts. Gone, kaput! Then in the next season without any notice, Eric Bogosian appears as Captain Danny Ross. The viewers needed some explanation, however, none was ever offered. I have found this to be the case with other characters simply leaving with no reason given. Wheeler's leaving is one more example. Maybe the writers did not have a chance to address their departures before the end of their respective seasons, but it could have been addressed in some fashion during the following season. A few words written in would have sufficed for me. This was one of the reasons I stopped watching. I did come back for the Goren and Eames farewells.
