Just the trailers creep me out now. I used to be able to watch all sorts of horror flicks - not no more. "shudder"

Oh, Metella! No unrequited love in this one!!! I had decided, once seeing the trailer, I'd never watch it. But a friend, who knows I love the psych-out stuff, brought it over tonight. Unrated version, lots of naked bodies in the beginning. I actually enjoyed it. You had to be thinking through the movie so it wasn't just blood and gore.
We watched again with commentary from writer-director and two producers. Your boyfriend Quentin T. was in on it. Pretty funny stuff. Makes ya glad these guys have an outlet in movies or they'd be on the eleven o'clock news!!

Yeah, my dear old QT can really be out there. I have liked all he has done, this just looks too painful - though. ?

yes, I made the mistake of seeing "The Hills have Eyes" Yuck doesn't begin to cover it. All the violence was directed against or because of women. YUCK! Sadistic and stupid.
Is Hostel just gore or is it more? (Hannibal and Clarice were more) I'd give it a go it it was more than gore.

Well if I remember rightly, so was the orginal 'Hills'. I love QT also, absolutely LOVE the kill bill movies & I believe that he was in on 'Sin City' also wasn't he?

I read that Tarentino added his name to this film as a favor to his friend Eli Roth. I must admit I did take notice when I heard his name in the promo trailer and that did prompt me to watch it when I otherwise probably wouldn't have done so, if the use of his name was a marketing ploy then it worked on me.
The same article also said he made an uncredited appearance in the film as one of the masked men in one of the torture rooms.
I should point out that this article was in a British tabloid so it could quite easily be a load of old cobblers.

Well my experience with QT has me pretty certain that he wouldn't attach his name to a movie if he didnt think it rocked or if he didnt believe in the director's abilities.

He was one of the producers.
It starts out just following the 'kids' backpacking thru the countries, basically to set up how these guys would do anything, go anywhere to get laid. Basic hormonal stupidity.
But, yeh, it gets pretty gory, some implied, some seen. The worst moment for me, the "OOOOUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!" moment, was when I thought one thing was happening and it cut to the shot and the reality was even worse. My friend had already seen it, so got more entertainment value watching ME watch the movie. The ending was killer, (no pun intended.....o.k....maybe pun intended)!!

I waited to be in the right emotional disposition to view it. Ok I'm repressing an evil grin here. Cheeseburger in one hand and remote control in the other. I was waiting for the gross stuff. I waited, waited, waited, waited, oups hormonal stuff, waited, waited, waited, oups sex scenesssss (multiple s intended), waited, waited, waited, oups ah nah another sex scene. Geez this movie is a soft porn movie. From the point when the ploy is "unveiled" and where we actually see some action (meaning the nasty stuff) til the end... 20 minutes have gone by and the movie lasts 1h30. It must be that the first part of the movie was intended to understand the three friends psychological, emotional, physical and overall purpose. I should've definitively had ketchup with my fries.

Yes Metella but the movie was balanced in that way. Some shots were shady so you couldn't see much (but could imagine a lot) and some were pretty graphics. I had two "eeww" moments.
Did you see the movie? Because I don't want to say too much!
