Thanks for the endorsement JanetHyland . I truly believe there is a reason why that woman was as tall as Goren. Maybe its as you say, (I need to go and check out the episode again and see how tall Charlene is ).......Or maybe it because of Ross having some issues with a person’s height. Sounds silly, I know. But I even asked a guy who is 6’5” if he encounters some people being intimidated by him because of his height, and he said Yes, and sometimes he wonders if its that are they just have other issues with him because of ….whatever…… He said it was the Napoleon Syndrome. I am still am hoping that the new captain is going to be a thorn in the detectives side for whatever reason. A little conflict would be nice. Not all bosses are great to work for like Deakins. So….which team of detectives did the Dubliner’s prefer? My bet is on Logan. And will there be another LOCI party at your home in the future and are we all invited? ;D

A cynical Captain Ross as a catalyst for some MCS department conflict is welcome. Seeing him connect to the other detectives with scenes like the "book club" is also welcome. Relationships, whether personal or professional, are in flux all the time. There will be times when I can see Ross and Goren at odds, and other times when they could connect in ways that will be meaningful for both men, all heady stuff with the potential for some excellent drama.
I said this before, but the mentor theme might prove to be significant this season. I also feel Ross as a divorced father of two boys who's still involved in their lives could also have potential impact on Goren, especially if he's going to deal with the death of his mother this season. This is the sort of character driven drama I prefer, not the artificially constructed nemesis scenarios we've seen in the past.
I have had high hopes and expectations regarding Ross from the beginning. So I am looking forward to seeing how he integrates into MCS and deals with both detective teams over the course of the entire season.

I agree with you, Techguy. Ross's interaction with the detectives in 'Blind Spot' and 'Tru Love' was fascinating to watch. He very much came across as a newly-appointed captain who was still feeling out the territory. In this respect, his initial reactions to Goren and Eames, and to Logan, were understandable.
Since then, though, he has begun to solidly establish himself as being the supportive leader that the detectives need him to be. The way that he defended Logan and Wheeler (but especially Logan) to the Commissioner and the Chief of D's was admirable, to say the least.
Like you said, Techguy, Ross's devotion to his sons despite his divorce will go a good length towards winning Goren's respect. His complete support of his detectives during and after the hearing will go a good way towards gaining him Logan's respect and trust.
There's plenty of scope here for conflict, but not on an "all-out war" scale, which I'm very happy about. There will be clashes, I'm sure, but I too am looking forward to seeing those moments of connection as well - like in the 'book club' scene.

Ha, Cassie, yes the Dubliners were fun! Well I like to show LOCI to different sorts of people to see what they all say;its my passion!... someone else said (Blugougar ?)...its marketed differently in different countries. Sounds like an interesting thread idea, janet--I would love to hear how CI is presented in other countries! beachboy, spaniard, any thoughts?

I'd love to hear that, is there a way I can access it Janet? (Music is always the first thing I notice, the Inspectour Morse theme is one of my favourites.) A question, do all the L&O incarnations have variations on the L&O theme, like they do here? In the US, the mothership has a clarinet running the melody, CI has a rock guitar, and I don't remember what variation (maybe a sax?) SVU has.

I'm new on this forum, but I'm a great fan of LOCI and hope it will continue, just sad to see that D'Onofrio is only making eleven episodes and the person called logan the other half. Also sad to hear that D'Onofrio is not staying because his contract of five years is almost done. Hope they have another good story to do for him. I'm sad to see that he is being passed over for an Emmy, that stupid show Monk was just a worthless piece of nothing. Great to have a forum like this. I'm not a young person but I love good movies whom have good actors such as Goren and Eames. Nonmanis

Award shows are meaningless and pretentious but I 'd still like to see L&O win Emmys. If they win then they could toss them off the stage in disgust.
It's the not winning at all that bothers me especially when lesser shows clean up.

Just another example of opposites in this episode. Adlai the historian with the strong moral compass drinks health-food smoothies, while his bimbo wife slugs down white wine during the final scenes...
just a thought that popped into my head.

Thanks effie, but do people really drink that? Then he deserves to die! Hah, yes, people do! I actually have true kefir "grains" that I keep on my counter and I feed them fresh raw goat milk and use the resulting kefir in smoothies and baking. If you properly mask the strong flavor, it's an incredibly good and healthy thing to drink. You know how when you have an upset stomach or have been on a long course of antibiotics it's recommended you eat yogurt to replace the live cultures in your stomach? Well, kefir has a stunning variety of cultures, and can help people with stomach problems a great deal. The stuff you buy at the store is actually quite delicious and not really true kefir, it's more like a liquid yogurt drink. The stuff on my counter has such strong yeasts in it that it gets bubbly and a little bit alcoholic. I'll stop rambling about kefir like a nerd now

Once again, janethyland, your analysis is extremely impressive. I agree with everything you've so eloquently illustrated here. I enjoyed this episode a great deal, even the fact that Goren was only partially successful. Solved the crime, but not the underlying problem. It made the episode more poignant. Thank you for this!

Janethyland, I am always excited when I see you've posted something. You are always a good read.
Partial failure as the S6 theme. I really like that.

Excellent, Janet! I especially noted your insight on young Henry, I missed that bit about his eating first, before looking for help--hmmm...more thinking about the "Head vs. Heart", push and pull...
