So the drinks of choice: Eames - a double vodka martini, easy on the vermouth. And Goren - a Glenlivet. Whatever that is.
Goren: "Are we all right?" Eames: "I hope so."
Interesting episode. Only thing I didn't care for was the opening sequence. Or the ending. Wouldn't have minded a different outcome. But, good performances from all concerned, especially KE.
Since this hasn't aired in the US, I can't state anything of a spoilerish nature.
Can't recall the last time I started an episode thread. ;D

Hey! I want to see the episode! How come you've seen it? Sorry if I sound like I'm whining but ... hey!!! It sounds like it could have some great Eames moments in it too! Wendy Hugs

Hey! I want to see the episode! How come you've seen it? Sorry if I sound like I'm whining but ... hey!!! CTV aired it a day early to accommodate for American Idol tonight. I wonder if it's to be a permanent change? Hmm... And I concur about the opening Nikki. Those of you who don't enjoy the musical opening will really not like this opening. Maybe mute the opening, lol.

I love that song. One of my all time favourites. I think Genlivet is a single malt whiskey. I really liked this episode for both those little details as well as the overall storyline. As for seeing it first, I have to say, this is the first time I've felt superior to all my American friends. I won't add anything of a spoilerish nature until tonight either. But, Americans, hold on to your seats: you almost get an eyeful of a very famous and beloved bare ass partway through. Eames certainly does!

He is beloved, but not too famous.(Although VDO is ..... this is sooo cruel ;D) Getting an eyeful of THAT might be worth flying to Canada for And is this exchange over drinks how they work out the argument from TWAH? If so, this scene should have been included in Privilege.

No comment until tonight but let's just say after I saw that scene my eyes were doing this: with, ok, a desperate need for the too. The songs always seem incongruous and a bit jarring during the opening. On further reflection though this one fits the theme and the pathos of the murder. Detective fiction often glosses over the tragedy of the killing in its race to mete out justice. This inspired song choice gave due deference to that. We don't truly understand, at least I didn't, the tragedy of this crime until Goren and Eames' aria brings it out at the end. "Tragedy" come to think of it is another fabulous song...

Metella, I think AI ends right before CI, and that CI will go head-to-head with House tonight (both showing new epis). In this showdown, House wins for me. I'll catch CI in a rerun. (Also, hate to admit it, but if CI was going against AI tonight, AI would win, too... Wouldn't have in years past, but times change.)

oh, that is scary - I'm not the only one ..... Well since I never started to watch House - I will watch CI then. Since I never started - I'm not going to start - not enough time in the day when I have to read 12 chapters of text for next week's class.

OK, just cause I'm a word freak... in anticipation of the episode tonight, here are some of the permutations of "albatross." Killing me that I have to work tonight and won't be home for the airing, but crossing my fingers the vhs tape kicks in :0)
1. The Frigate-bird. Etymology: probably alteration of obsolete alcatrace frigate bird, from Spanish or Portuguese alcatraz pelican, from Arabic al-ghattAs, a kind of sea eagle 2. a. The English name of a family of birds allied to the Petrels (Order Tubinares), which inhabit the Pacific and Southern Oceans. The great Albatross, Diomedea exulans, to which the name is usually applied, is the largest of sea-fowls. 3. a : something that causes persistent deep concern or anxiety b : something that greatly hinders accomplishment c. fig. [In allusion to Coleridge's Ancient Mariner: see sense 2a quot. 1798.] A source or mark of misfortune, guilt, etc., from which one cannot (easily) be free; a burden or encumbrance. 4.. Golf. A score of three under par on a hole; a hole played in three under par.

Eames certainly does! Gosh, are you serious? & We get to see them actually *talk* about what happened after The War At Home? My little shipperish heart is doing the happy dance right now. *Checks* only six more hours until CI. I really need to finish this homework right now, so I can watch the show later.

the song in the opening sequence..."under pressure". is it just me or did it just seem...out of place. like it didn't fit w/ what was going on?

Well, now that we know what was really going on, the song seems appropriate. I was also, "WTF?" in the beginning.
I really liked this episode. Reminded me of Shrink Wrapped; another marriage made in hell. Right from the start you could sense the air of guilt, manipulation, jealousy, and spite that swirled around them, but it was just nuanced enough to leave me guessing as to who knew or did what.

I thought it didn't fit the situation, either, raeangel, until the ending and then it made sense. I felt it was a great episode, all in all. The guest stars were wonderfully cast, as they usually are.
I loved the Goren/Eames exchange: "Are we alright?" " I hope so."

Jesus....it just keeps getting worse and worse. Damn it. My favorite show, hitting new lows with each passing week.
But I was hoping one of you guys could explain the episode title to me, please. Please.
Can't wait for tomorrow- though-Criminal Minds is so good, that, like the promos sometimes claim, "it HURTS!".....thank God for that, because CI is SO painful to watch these days.
