Well, I know what I'll be watching tonight after CSI Miami has finished. ;D That must be just about the only occurence, though. Interesting, just how much can be read into a name, isn't it?

Lots of good points and insights as to "What's in a name" here. I thought I'd add and expand on that.
I wonder how much has to do with what other people are around. If they are at the scene, with potential suspects and victims around, maybe they lose the familiarity then too. And it goes with Eames calling him "Goren" to get his attention. How many times is he otherwise distracted when at a scene. But also maybe they don't want to lend a sense of familiarity at that time. The victims might find it too light-hearted and the suspects might be able to pick up on something then too. Like if they thought the detectives (in general, not just Eames and Goren) were close friends and not just partners they could use that information to their advantage. E.g. threaten one to get the other to mess up just enough to botch a case. Just a thought.
And that's my second post here. I think I'm going to become addicted. ;D

I've been a member for a bit, but this is my first actual reply.
In answer to your question, there was an instance in 'The Good Doctor,' during the first season where Deakins called Bobby by his nickname. This was also the only instance where we see Alex and Bobby really argue.
The debate was about whether to tell the victim's--whose name I've forgotten (*grimace*)--family about their recent discovery of a decapitated, limbless body.
The exact quote is, "I've got to go with Bobby on this one."

I've only really noticed that during introductions Robert is what Goren used. When E/N called him Bobby I felt that she used it to throw Goren off his game. By the way he reacted I figure it worked.
I find it to be natural that he calls Eames by her last name not Alex. It can be hard and feel very UNnatural to change ones address towards a friend if you have been using that one name since initial introductions. To Goren I'd bet that it would run counter to his feelings towards Eames to call her anything else even if it was her real name. He was most likely introduced to 'Eames', so Eames she stayed.
