A thread on a Sherlock Holmes group got me thinking about this:
Who's the best (or worst) villain on LOCI?
Now, that could cover a lot of ground--who's the most morally bankrupt, or the cleverest, or messed with Bobby the most--but I thought it might be an interesting topic and get us out of the batcave a bit (not that I dislike the batcave--I love it, but thought we might want to descend into another darkness (g)).

OOoooo... Pat... this is gooood! *evil wink* Most morally bankrupt... probably the older brother from GEMINI. Of course Nicole would fit just about all these criteria as well. Especially since she's probably the one who "messed with Bobby's head" the most. Though, Hal Linden's charcter in 'Suite Sorrow' was perfectly loathsome as well...using his daughter like that. Also, the father in 'MAGNIFICATE" was devoid of conscience and evil incarnate! I wanted him to be torn apart by someone by then end of that episode. Man.. this is hard.. there are quite a few wonderful villains, even besides Nicole...

I think that were a lot of villains who fit into the "morally bankrupt" category.
One that came to mind immediately was Trudy Palmeranski from Poison.
She killed numerous individuals, including her husband, by switching painkillers to ones laced with cyanide. All this was done for lawsuit money, with which she could purchase a franchise, selling kids' clothing.

I've always thought that Connie from "Sound Bodies" would have made a great nemesis for Goren. He was very clever and manipulative AND he still stood a real chance of getting away because the girls were still loyal to him. Worst vilain ... let me think .. I think everyone knows I think E/N was a weak nemesis, but worst? I'll have to get back to you

One of the best (worst) villians just for skill was the hitman from DEAD. They could have done a multi-episode plot with him if they wanted to.
For moral bankruptcy, I would have to say that the father in COLD COMFORT and the pharmacist in MALIGNANT rate high in my book. I think the tops was the guy in PHANTOM, since he killed 2 people and was ready to waste 2 innocent children just to protect himself.

I don't think he's the worst, but the mastermind in BLINK is slime at the end, when he seems to totally ignore his wife and child for concern over his own skin. But I may have an elevated view of BLINK, having just gotten the chance to see it. Impressive episode.

It seems that it's the really selfish ones that we consider worse. The more selfish the crime, the worse the criminal.
I agree with Dom that it's hard to top the pharmacist in Malignant. While the woman in Poison killed a lot of people, she did so in a completely impersonal manner. Horrible. But does it compare with looking them in the eye when they come to get the medicine that *should* save their lives, but won't because of something so petty as being liked by greedy church members?

The FBI agent from "The Insider". "She was weak, and you used her...that really pisses me off!"

The "Marcus Welby" hypocrite on "D.A.W." He killed scores of older people, the last one simply because he saw a beautiful piece of jewelry that she had and he wanted to steal it.
(The "Last Supper" scene in that episode is great--Goren helps himself to the doctor's supper while he is wrapping the case up.)

How about Zoonotic’s, Dr. Roger Stern and Vet Doc Scott Borman
The episode starts out with Goren and Eames investigating a murdered cop, who is investigating medical insurance fraud. What they discover are two slime doggies, that like to “tag team” the others date, while one watches. After the courtship ends, the girls would end up with rare animal viruses
I don’t know which guy made my skin crawl more, Tarzan or the mama’s boy

Nicole would also be the obivous choice for me as well for first & best villian. But below is a list of the 'unsung villians' that people might overlock in wake ic Nicole.
The murdering 'playa' from 'Jones' (i'm sorry but his name escapes me) Spencer (the evil brother) from Gemini Neil Patrick Harris' character (cant remember the episode name) the kid Jason from 'Happy Family' Lance Brody from 'A Murderer Among Us' the jewl theives from 'One' Dr Kelmer from 'The Good Dr.' although the ep iteslf wasnt the BEST CI ep i had ever seen, his character was very well thought out.

Definitely John (Neil Patrick Harris) Tagman from Want. Also, the pregnant wife from Undaunted Mettle. She was excellent and very creepy. As was Rosanna Arquette in Sex Club. I actually like seeing women as villains, not necessarily Nicole per se, but some of the others have been really terrific.

I don't think it's that he wanted to help him as much as he knew it was not a proper death penalty case. John's intent was not to kill the girls, even though what he did was incredibly sadistic seeming. Goren figured out that in his own twisted way, John was just trying make a girlfriend. Want provided us w/ yet another interesting glimpse into the Goren psyche.

The guy in Jones was a real creep, but the kidnapper in Homo Homini Lupus was one of the worst. I actually wanted to hurt him myself.
