Oh, I totally forgot to mention how delighted I was to have Bobby "the kid" back for a little bit, too. Playing with those toys while questioning the guy about D-Tour. It was so nice to see him playing around again.

Yeah, I liked that Goren wasn't so down and depressed either. I really appreciated how he "worked" through the crime.

I'm still conflicted over this episode. I hated that it was such an in your face direction with the whole Declan Gage/Schill--mentor/protege thing. I kept thinking, writers, remember who your's audience. We know the characters--sometimes better than you do. You don't have to shove it down our throats. We get it. That's what I dislike most about this episode. I realize others might see it differently, and respect their opinion and their right to express their opinion. When I express a negative comment or reaction to viewing an episode, it's because that's how it affected ME personally. Expressing a negative comment about an episode contrary to someone else liking it is a difference of opinion only, NOT a personal attack on another poster. I hope I'm very clear about this so there is no misunderstanding my intent.

Don't worry Techguy, your Intent wasn't criminal ;D I'm just glad the week is over and have Thanksgiving to look forward too. I need some comfort food and a nice tryptophan sleep.

Goren handing his badge to Eames so T.J. wouldn't have a problem taking a swing at a cop. With the badge off, Goren is still a cop, so wouldn't it still be assault on a police officer? Goren could argue that T.J. knew he was NYPD even without the badge and still nail him for it, right?

I believe that the show affects everyone differently and I wouldn't think badly of anyone who thought differently from me. Your intent certainly wasn't misunderstood by me. If I made you feel that way I'm sorry. I know I'm not as eloquent as many of you are on this board in expressing their opinion especially when I am conflicted. It is what I enjoy about this board is the sharing of our opinions about Criminal Intent. nosee

Maybe re-watching it will change my opinion, but I liked this one as well. I certainly sympathize with those who say that the episode was about as "subtle as a brick" in some respects, but I can understand the writers/etc. wanting to bring everyone up to speed. The whole scene in the gym was probably my favorite part of the entire episode and I too liked the scene where Bobby was playing with the toys in the animator's office (reminded me of 'Collective').

And I almost forgot, but Goren made a not so subtle reference to a ballistics "friend." There were a million less clumsy ways to have incorporated the gun information into the script, which has me thinking it to be a deliberate to hint at the dark haired ballistics cutie with whom there was definate chemsity in Albatross and whatever other ep she was in (they are, sadly, getting difficult to distinguish and quite forgettable). Why assume it's the same ballistics expert? If she worked the "Albatross" case wouldn't she have been with NYPD? As far as I remember she hasn't been in any other episodes. To make the leap that she's transferred to New Jersey and left the NYPD seems a bit much. I believe she was in "Rocketman". I assume she could drive between Jersey and NYC.

If we're talking about the short, brunette ballistics expert, she was first seen in "Albatross" and then this season in "Amends." I don't recall her in "Rocketman" but I could be wrong. I don't think she was the expert Goren was referring to who ran the 22 caliber weapon in New Jersey, but I do agree that she would be a nice date for Goren. The man needs some lovin' (Nosee, I believe Techguy's comments about differing opinions were in reference to a post by gorensdoppleganger from yesterday, not by your post.)

Nosee, I posted in general terms because what I had to say to Gorensdoppelganger also applied to any board member I have disagreed with in the past and will disagree with in the future. But now I realize that in this case I should have been more specific in my response. I'm sorry if my lack of clarity resulted in any misunderstading or confusion.

I don't think anyone has mentioned anything about the scene with the detectives and Mr. Sage. I thought the actor who played Tom did an excellent job. All of them made the scene funny, even though in real life it would have been such a sad situation. Also, I like how Goren took the water and said thank you to Tom on the way out.

Goren could argue that T.J. knew he was NYPD even without the badge and still nail him for it, right? Only if Goren would drag him in, I think Goren was telling him, Look go ahead, I am taking off my badge, I am giving you a free swing, any ex con would love that shot. Proving with out cameras there, he was just a fake, chicken. Then like others said, if he had been in prison he wouldn't have turned his back on him. Also on CSU Mike, The female Balistic girl was in Albatros and Amends, Couldn't she just send the info to NJ and and get the info for Goren, SVU does it all the time. But she is young, IMDB doesn't give her age, but says her range is 23-30, but they make her look old. I say go for it Bobby. , I need to watch again before I comment more, Did you know the guy who played JT is Liev Schrieber' brother, and Liev I think was first choice to play Bobby Goren.

Re: Ms Ballistica, I could be wrong, but I thought I heard him say he had a ballistics friend check the gun in NJ (which anyone could do from a computer in Manhattan obviously) , not that he had a friend in NJ check the gun. I wasn't paying strict attention and could have imagined it. I agree that we look for meaning that is not that a lot of times, especially in otherwise poorly drawn inconsequential material such as this scene. I didn't get a fel for her age, 30 something I'd think, which seems old enough to me. ::shrug:: no matter. I don't think it is possible for a true fan to be too critical of a good show gone bad, and lets face it, CI fits that bill. It is a mere shadow of it's former self. Some people are over it and appreciating it as a new show. Well I'm still mourning the loss. I have been through dark times with good shows before, and sometimes it has been well worth it. Case in point, Six Feet Under which rewarded my loyalty with the very best finale season I have seen since The Paper Chase. It was outstanding storytelling, cinematography, editing and acting. I am (still) hoping for a similiar arc with CI. The talent they have assembled is capable of it, I want to see them deliver. But I'm not going to say it is good when it is not. To quote Inigo Montoya "It is too much, let me sum up...." IMO, dissent is patriotic. Pointing out lackluster results is not disloyalty, changing the channel is. So please don't suggest I don't watch just because like I am lately dissapointed in my teenager, I am lately dissapointed in CI. To my way of thinking, one is obligated to shout to the hilltops when either or both are underacheiving, just in case someone is listening.

Yes, in general terms, I love them, and I think that they are trying, but the writing has suffered. The old writing was snappy and allusive. I don't know what the deal is with the new writing, but it is not (and however much I love them, I can admit this) up to the quality of the old.
