I read with great sadness of this Great American Author's death today, at the young age of 84.
But wait, is he really gone, or just gone home to Tralfamadore?
Either way, he will be sorely missed by many. The world has grown a little bit darker with his passing.

I'm sorry--I made a post about this under another heading.
But I agree--the world has also grown less intelligent and skeptical.

Slaughterhouse Five is the only Vonnegut work I've read; but out of a lot of books that I went through far too fast, that book stands out as one that made me slow down and ponder, and it had a profound effect on me.
It pained me to hear on the news that Vonnegut dealt with a lot of inner torment, that apparently he tried to turn his life around at some point, that he didn't have much success with that attempt (according to the eulogist). At some point, he said that he didn't want his children to say about him when he was gone that "he told a lot of funny stories, but he was a very unhappy man."
