I know it's the most popular of the L&O shows. I admire the actors. But tonight's season premiere demonstrated everything I dislike about this show in the tag before the credits when Captain Cragen listed everything that happened during the last season. It was just too much.
Glad Ms. Hargarity decided to cut her hair, though.

I didn't catch it last night, but that kind of spoon feeding you describe is an embarrassment to the Law & Order franchise. Are they going to add a synopsis every week, I wonder? Another reason to love USA & CI.

To be fair, it wasn't a synopsis, but a lead-in to the night's episode. Cragen was temporarily relieved because of all the shenigans his detectives pulled last season, and Munch put in charge.

I was so disappointed in last nights episode. It was so anti-climatic. I don't know what I was expecting but to me it the story just kind of fell flat. They also seemed to wrap up last years ending with everyone too neatly.
It just makes me more excited to see LOCI's opening episode on the 4th!

[spoilers aplenty follow] Here's the wrapup Patcat was talking about so the folks like me who tune in to SVU intermittently and get really confused sometimes can see it (the first post-teaser minutes of Season 9): www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWPj9DISV2A Ayup--dramarama. I don't see why they had to mess with the formula anymore than they did on CI, but that IS just me. In a way, it's worse than CI because of all the personal screwups and embroilments--I think they should probably just have kept them as Saint Olivia and Saint Eliot, honestly. That said, SVU and CI are never dull even if they're not what you'd want--they're always interesting to study. The Mothership I find is often OVER-formulaic--just chugs along without doing much ... *s* I thought the scene with Eliot and knife woman was RIDICULOUS. Lots of great facts about spiders, however (even if they never totally explained whether psycho knife woman put them there or what). On the plus side, Mariska's hair looked lovely. It really brought out her eyes.

I agree Mariska's hair looked lovely. And they gave us more information on spiders that I ever wanted to know.

Seems they are everywhere, at least I see the webs.

Haha, awesome. It makes me kind of sad to kill spiders, as compared to insects ... it was really a strange idea to have her be that way about them, however ... if not as ridiculous as the whole showing up at Stabler's with a knife thing. I realize of course that Stabler is amazingly desirable and he has women lining up down the sidewalk, with or without knives, but still

I don't know WHAT you guys are talking about I saw the promos with the woman who was doing a "Sybil." You say she had the hots for Stabler & pulled a knife on him? Goren. Yes. Stabler, Naaa

It was totally a Sybil ripoff. I don't even know why they thought they could pull that off.
It could have been worse, I suppose, but I did find that there was an element of self-parody to it.

And yes, DonnaJo--I've never seen why people think Meloni is so hot. I know he's Genovese, but that's about it :-D
That said--can't imagine VDO boogieing to "Baby Got Back" on the View, either, so I suppose it takes all kinds :-D

They also seemed to wrap up last years ending with everyone too neatly. - Though quite honestly they can afford it. It's NBC's #2 show and guaranteed to bring in an audience. I thought the scene with Eliot and knife woman was RIDICULOUS. Lots of great facts about spiders, however (even if they never totally explained whether psycho knife woman put them there or what). On the plus side, Mariska's hair looked lovely. It really brought out her eyes. - Yes, she looks so much better with short hair.
