The Reel has located the film "Five Minutes, Mr. Wells" on YouTube. It looks to be the entire 30 minute short . Here is a direct link to the You Tube video: Five Minutes Mr WellsVery interesting film. Vincent really does an outstanding job portraying Orson Wells, especially in voice. And his leading lady is great. She looks familiar.

I watched the film, didn't realize it was the whole movie, it said clip on the reel. I thought it was great, Vincent nailed the voice and ego of Orson perfectly. There is a new message at the youtube site, from Vincent, if you want to as well as a critique of the movie you can send a personal message to Vince, if you do, ask as I did for him to release a DVD, he could use his personal production company. The director of Vince's movie ''It don't pay to be an honest man" is doing that, so hopefully Vince might do the same if he thinks enough people want it. i'm sure he would sell a lot to the fans on all the different boards. Here's hoping.

I saw that too, criminalist. Didn't believe at first that it was VDO who posted it, but now it looks like it actually is. Very cool. Here's the page with the comments: www.youtube.com/user/VDO630

Did Orson Welles play with his fingers? Welles kept doing it in the film (to convey nervousness), and it is such an obvious D'Onofrio-ism. For me the line between the actor & the character blurred there. Or perhaps Welles and VDO are more alike (in terms of how they approach their craft) than we know? This was a tremendous labor of love. And this is the type of character VDO adores playing. In a way, this explains a little of why Goren is going in the direction he is going. There were several personality similarities between Welles & Goren, especially the Goren of Season 7. Both tortured geniuses, misunderstood by mere mortals. Both evasive to the woman in their life. Difference being that Welles had a strong, albeit selfish libido. That aspect of Goren, we can only guess at.

That was one of the more enjoyable thirty-two or so minutes of my life (g). I don't claim to be a Welles expert, but from what I've read about the man, Mr. D'Onofrio does a terrific job of capturing the charm, brilliance, manipulativeness, and ego of the man. The young actress playing opposite him is splendid. I love the black and white photography (did everyone catch that the director of photography is Frank Prinzi, who's directed several LOCI episodes?). I confess that I was worried at the start that Mr. D'Onofrio might fall victim to the first time director illness and move his camera too much, but once the film settled into its story, the camera was very much at the service of the story.
I was very impressed. I hope Mr. D'Onofrio gets a chance to direct again. And I'm very grateful that he posted this.

I understand that at some other fan sites the direct link to YouTube has been removed, pending "confirmation"-- from Mr. D'Onofrio?
This is an old ploy, under the guise of concern for copyright protection, to obtain direct contact with the actor. He's making himself much more available these days. Good luck. ;-)
BTW, If rights were actually at legal issue, this film -- any seriously contested intellectual property -- would disappear from YouTube because YouTube is where the liability lies.
Still up, isn't it?
In short, the YouTube posting likely did come via Mr. D'Onofrio, if not literally from him because -- well, why not?
And I agree, VDO fans appear most appreciative.
AL
P.S. Did everyone note the production credits for CI's operations types Mike Smith and Mary Rae Thewlis?

I did notice several familiar names. Speaks to Mr. D'Onofrio's loyalty, I'd think.

I love this film and have watched it every day since Sweet Vincent published it! Vincent is masterful at his craft(s). And at someone else's suggestion,(sorry I can't remember whose) I watched another YouTube clip of the real Orson Welles performing this scene. The whole experience was exhilarating!

It's not certain that Mr. D'Onofrio posted the film on Youtube. There's a lively debate about this on several other lists. The consensus is that he probably has better things to do than hang out on youtube, but probably approved the posting.
