Well, I do think Bobby showed some poor judgment in PURGATORY in not speaking to Alex, Chief Moran's commandmants be hanged. But he was in a tough spot.

I like the "Grissom-look", too, Tjara.

Tjara, I too, thought at first that Bobby was going sympathetic on Marla in the aria and then. . .wham! He grabs her and pushes her against the wall in a perfectly smooth move, worthy of his talent for putting people off balance.

I've always thought Bobby is perfectly capable of UNDERSTANDING why a person thinks or does the things he or she thinks or does while still recognizing that the person's thoughts and actions are wrong. I think it's something that many people around Bobby don't always realize, especially other cops. Even Alex misses the distinction occasionally.

That's really part of his "quirkyness", isn't it? His ability for "empathy" and/or "understanding" what motivates the perp. He's fascinated by their motivation, he wants to understand it - quite often he'll fool the perp into believing he himself would act the same way...
That really set's him apart from other L&O detectives - Stabler comes to my mind first and foremost. He can be extremely though on certain kinds of perps...

Bobby's unique (as far as most TV cops go) in that understanding, Patcat. It's one of the things I find so compelling about him, and part of what makes him so complex. He empathizes but still holds to the side of truth and justice, and what's right. He understood Marla, and her loneliness, but he abhorred her actions, and it showed. Bobby's brand of interrogation seems to get better results than Stabler's.

Are you referring to closure rates?
Bobby certainly doesn't get beat as much. I've seen none but maybe a dozen eps of SVU, and Stabler has been hit at least twice durring interrogations. So I'm guessing that happens more often, doesn't it... ;D

See, now I've got this image of Daffy Duck in my head. . . "Sufferin' succotash, Goren! Do you always have to know everything"

Carver or Deakins as Daffy Duck! (I just can't see Nicole or Eames in that voice)

For some strange reason, I can almost hear Carver doing it. LOL! He did tell Bobby once that he was "a few lima beans short of succotash."
