Since this poll thing seems to be standing dormant I thought I'd give it a whirl.
AL

Good Girl!! You did a great job. I feel guilty, I had said that I would do it. Thanks for bailing me out. Are you sure the name of the episode is Kissinger? I thought it was "Please Note?" And I gave this an A+ strictly because it portrayed Goren without angst. And that makes it an A+ in my book! ;D

It was nice to see Goren and Eames being back on track with each other, but I was hoping for more. That is why I couldn't give it an A. Something was missing.

Donna, I was confused, too. The official name of this episode appears to be " Please Note We Are No Longer Accepting Letters of Recommendation from Henry Kissinger" The USA 2-minute replay of the ep (not yet operational, I see) is simply "Kissinger". Perhaps "Please Note" will stick, though. Thanks for a great job getting the poll up, Annabelle. Will be interesting to how the votes go on this one.

Perhaps "Please Note" will stick, though... DB, the two-minute replay is operational on the USA site at www.usanetwork.com/series/criminalintent/video/2minreplay.htmlSort of. It automatically rolls the replay from "Assassins" but if you click on Goren's face you'll get "Kissinger"-- apparently now the official title. A more (technically) reliable clip is at www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LIadfXQAw0What's missing on the USA site is the episode commentary. Marygrace O'Shea has nothing to say?! Not possible. I say let's invite her to CI-US and ask her questions ourselves. But I digress. The Major has ruled that we can only discuss the poll in this thread. I bow to his authority. AL

I've given the episode a low - not the lowest - rating. I don't wish to reward content and writing that isn't present. I do understand that many of the members really liked this ep, and many more ticked the A box for, er, reasons I don't understand. You who voted an A would REALLY would put this ep in the category of, say, 'Bright Boy' or 'Antithesis' or HHLupus or 'Endgame' ? Annabelle, thanks again for such a stylish poll

Annabelle, thanks again for such a stylish poll I haven't voted yet but I would not give this one an A+. I don't think it stands with some of the ones you mentioned. I do think that what helps elevate the grade, IMO, is that we see glimpses of the Goren/Eames of old. And it has been refreshing to some of us. It moved away from the angst ridden Bobby and for me, that is a plus.

As you say, you have to score this ep, and so my remarks are more general. For a glimmer, a glimpse, for almost a desperate wish, we now give high marks to low achievement? Any fragment of the old Bobby merits the sympathy vote? I am repeating myself - cracked Callas got a huge amount of applause when she (twice in two hours) hit the high notes . Any Bobby will do? I don't comprehend this. Any John Kennedy or Mother Theresa or Herman Mellville or Jane Austen or Werner von Braun or (insert person of choice) is okay? As long as it\s interchangeable?

Yet, dragonsback, brilliant as the Callas analogy is--"Bobby now" strikes me as coming from very deliberate choices by D'Onofrio. The writing might be sub par, but I don't have the sense D'Onofrio's powers are failing (others might).

As long as it\s interchangeable? Considering that it wasn't that long ago that we nearly lost the show altogether, yes, for myself, I will settle for what we have presently. Imagine a world with no LOCI, no Goren/Eames. I have difficulty losing LOCI. Do I wish for better writing and plots?.....of course. But in the interim, I enjoy what we are given. Settling is sometimes better than going without. At some point in the near future we will all have that LOCI-less world. And at that time we will be here lamenting the demise of not only the excellent early episodes but the last few. I don't think a "glimmer" of the old Goren/Eames merits the A+ but it does give us hope that maybe, just maybe the new PTB will incorporate some of that sharp, interesting writing that we have been privileged to witness in many episodes. I will hang in as a fan to the end savoring each episode regretting when the GOING OUT OF BUSINESS sign goes up on the LOCI buffet.

Especially since I find myself wondering if we will ever get another D'Onofrio or Erbe series. JMO, but even in this mode they are better than pretty much anything on television.

I'm with you Deathroe. LOCI is still the best TV has to offer, and there are a lot of offers out there. Most of them suck, though there are some good ones. But LOCI is what makes me turn on my TV, even to catch repeats of older seasons. Even when I have the DVD's of Seasons 1-3, still I'll sit and watch them on Bravo or USA.
