The class issue is a thread connecting almost all the CI epis. LOCI and it's MCS deals with that struggle regularly, as have many great stories in the history of literature. The gall of the so-called "upper class" appalls me, yet fascinates me. And I must admit, I enjoy seeing them put in their place by our favorite detectives!

Tjara--fair enough, but I still feel that they broached that issue and treated it rather clumsily.

Oh no offense honey I am just not a fan of this one. But it was better than no LOCI at all. This is why I prefer the angsty ones because there is at least something to chew on.
The ones that are the worst to me are the ones that have no sympathy on any level. I didn't even like Ms.Nouveille. It never ceases to amaze me how there is a murder and parents will protect their children even then. I would be like "Here. You take him."
On a side note, if it's a requirement, then it's NOT VOLUNTEERING!

DR, I'm definitely not going to argue on that point mj, don't worry, I won't make it into my favorite ep. Sometimes though, I wonder whether I shouldn't be around boards. I read a lot on them about "good Seasons" and "bad Seasons", and I find it does influence me. So I tend to think - "this will be good" or "this will be bad", but the ep doesn't turn out like that. And I don't even read that in particular ep-Threads, but just on the boards in general.

It's okay, I didn't even know I was supposed to hate Bishop until the boards told me ;D (I don't).
I don't think this is Bobby's most physically appealing ep either.

Well, you know, I admit I do like the Gil-Grissom look!

I didn't hate Bishop, either. LOL! I did think she was annoying, but she was supposed to be. She didn't "get" Goren at all. And the scene in "F.P.S." where he puts his hand on her throat and demonstrates the way the perp grabbed Corinne on his way in was hilarious to me. She just gives him this "look", like she'd like to give him a shove. Shows the tension between them nicely.
I couldn't really get invested in anyone in Legacy. The only one I could find any sympathy for was the poor kid who ended up dead. Most of the other characters were either too snooty or too interested in the "social climb".

I didn't hate Bishop either, I didn't particularly like her but I agree with both of you that she was written to be annoying. I enjoyed watching Bobby trying to deal with her and I think he did that choking bit just to annoy her, cause could you imagine him doing that to Eames?

Precisely, Idget. That was Bobby's way of irritating Bishop, and t worked, too. I've seen other demonstrations where cops "showed" each other how something might have been done, but with mutual agreement. If he'd wanted to pull that one on Eames, he would've needed permission first or else she'd probably shove one of those nice leather boots she wears right into his shinbone. LOL!

I think Bishop just needed to find her footing. If given time she and Bobby would have gelled, as would have Logan and Barek. If Bobby had done that to me I would have looked up at him with big cow eyes, thus defusing the situation.

There's probably a thesis waiting to be, if it hasn't already been, written about Class and Its Appearances and Treatments in the LAW AND ORDER series, or even just in CI. It's a frequent theme, and one of the fascinating (for me) elements in LOCI is the fact we have a cop from a working class/middle class background (Eames) and one from a lower class background (Goren) investigating members of the upper class.
Both LEGACY and PLEASE NOTE are pretty heavyhanded in their handling of the class issues. I thought them middle of the road LOCI, which means I think they were better than most TV.

The whole class thing was very prevelant in "Ill Bred", too. I absolutely love that whole episode, from Molly's snarky comments about how she kept her arms toned to Page's spitting remarks to Margarite as she's being hauled away, and all of the stuff in between.
Instead of only having those of the upper class making rude comments, the episode spotlighted those of the lower class showing the same sort of scorn for their upper class counterparts. It showed, with sharp clarity, the divide between the two and the contempt that both classes often have for the other.
Legacy was much more about the contempt of the upper for those they considered lower, rather than a glimpse of both sides.

One comment that threw me in this episode. Was when the head of the school was ready to speak to Goren and Eames, and the Detective said " He is a real CYA" Did he mean Cover your Ass? As in Goren and Eames to cover theirs? or that the head was trying to cover his? Cause when Goren and Eames spoke to him and he said Paul shouldn' t have never been at that school, I didn't get that vibe from him. Or did the detective say something else? Sometimes their abbreviations might not mean what I think they mean.

I believe the detective did mean that the Head Master was indeed a cover your ass kind of guy, as in trying to cover his ass. I took his saying that the boy shouldn't have been in such a competitive school as his way of negating his responsibility, implying that the boy was weak and prone to suicide. Because at that time I think the head master was assuming the boy killed himself.
