Do mean an MPAA rating? If that's your thinking about, it's rated R. Yeah thats what I meant. Pooh. I wonder why the R rating? I'm not comfortable with movies that are over pg-13.

Please don't hold me to this, but I'm pretty sure that it's "R" because of a brief instance of female nudity (first 5 minutes of the movie), and excessive language. It's an odd sort of movie when it comes to content. You get the feeling that it's supposed to be "feel-good" but there are definitely "gross-out" times as well. Still, I enjoyed it.

Well, the movie is hilarious, but it deals with very serious issues. Being a "sinking star". Not being able to do that one used to be best at. The ordinary and extra-ordinary life of handicapped people. Tailored around that "the blind and the lame complement each other" theme it has some very thoughtful moments. My favorite: After his roll in the hay with that mildly ugly woman Olee mentions that she must have worn lots of make-up. The smell. He recalls that his ex continued to wear make-up even after he had become blind and that it pissed him off. But she replied that only because he was blind now it didn't mean she was gone -- and Olee admits that he didn't know how to handle that answer. Is this a movie for you, comedykicks? I suggest you see it. It doesn't include more (implied) sex than the PG-13 rated "Titanic". But it includes gross talk about sex. Though occassionally a little macho, I thought that it was still normal and healthy, the way lots of people talk about sex. So unless you were raised by Stephen Collins' character on 7th Heaven I think you wouldn't be offended. You definitely should watch this movie if you want to see how greedily VDO can eat "breakfast" (consisting of steak and eggs) or how it looks like if he jumps into a truck thru the window...or just what a physique he once had...

Actually my childhood was very similar to the character on 7th. Heaven. I'm not comfortable with a lot of sex talk. I guess it makes me squeamish. On the other hand, if I got the DVD, and just skipped through certain scenes.......Also, I never watched Titanic. I did however see a few documentaries on the ship. They depressed me so much. I guess I'm a wuss. Thanks rosemary.

You‘re welcome, comedykicks. I hope I didn‘t upset you with my joking comment about being raised by the rev. I must admit that I once was a loyal viewer of that show, during the first seasons, when it was still about family life. I‘ve got lots of siblings too, and I imagined how life would be if my father would be a minister (and not a backwoods farmer) and if we were living in a wonderful clean, big house (instead of the dump I grew up in). But the show got worse and worse (IMHO) and I stopped watching it somewhere in the 8th season. I couldn‘t cope with the fact that the rev expects his offspring to live the way he lives because that‘s what he thinks is right. When I think of that I could hug my redneck father (of course he wouldn‘t permit it. „Hey, am I a sissy, or what?“). Because he let me live my own life. If I were to follow his footsteps I would be still in the backwoods, without a computer (no LOCI discussion boards!). For further information about my redneck background, visit the Men in Black thread... Now, if you want to watch „Good Luck“ t you may grab the remote and skip the scene with the two guys sitting next to each other in the truck (they casually talk about sex, and Olee admits that he‘s got two big problems since he became blind) and the scene after the blackjack game scene (I hope gambling doesn‘t offend you, because that scene is just hilarious).

I used to like that show too, until all the Camden girls hit puberty and lost their brains in the process. At least thats how it seemed to me. Since than, I haven't watched.

"lost their brains". That's a cool expression. In the case of Lucy, I'd say she changed from sensitive, ocassionaly weeping girl to total nutcase. If you'd like to discuss 7th Heaven (I've got nothing against it) we might move to the "TV-Talk" session. Greetings, rosemary.

I recently rented this movie from Netflix. I had previously tried finding it in my local video stores - no luck.
I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it and why it isn't known out there. I loved Gregory Hines in this - what a shame he is no longer with us. Vincent did a very convincing job as a blind man. And ladies, he is the hottest looking football player ever! Those first scenes before the accident, he is so sexy & self-assured, it's criminal.

Didn't see a thread for this movie, got it from net flicks this weekend, thought it was good, VDO was great in it. About two handicapped people entering a whitewater rafting contest and the bond they build while going there. If you haven't seen it and are a VDO fan its worth a view.
copy and pasting my post, but I did look past the first page, but I guess I should have looked three times, I did look twice, But I am old and did look quickly, please excuse my missing the thread.

Yeah VDO has gotten kinda chunky in the last couple of years, but I still think he's one of best looking men out there; first, because he's real, he doesn't take himself seriously, just his acting performances and as an actor he's fearless in just about any role he plays. How's the saying go? 'Just more of him to love!' ;D So chunky or no, I wouldn't kick him out of bed!!
