I have read more criticism about the new ADA and new female detective than I have about Captain Ross on CI. I really can't fault the actors as much as I can the writers in this case. It was like they were going out of their way to make the new female detective as awkward as possible. The "new boss scenes with new subordinates" was more entertaining on CI with Ross, Eames and Goren.

NEW YORK – Sept. 26, 2006 – NBC announced today that Emmy winner and comedy superstar Chevy Chase ("Caddyshack," "Fletch") begins filming this week on NBC's "Law & Order." Chase guest stars as a television celebrity who is pulled over for drunk driving while wearing blood-soaked clothes, and whose religious prejudice comes out after his arrest. The episode titled "In Vino Veritas" is slated to air on Friday, November 3, 10-11 p.m ET/PT.
Chase first came to national prominence as a writer and performer with the original cast of NBC's "Saturday Night Live," for which he won two Emmy Awards. He has since starred in more than 20 films, including "Foul Play," "Caddy Shack," "National Lampoon's Vacation" and its three sequels, "Fletch" and "The Three Amigos." Most recently, Chase started opposite Naomi Watts in "Ellie Parker," which premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival. He will next be seen the in the comedy "Funny Money," which opened this year's Sarasota Film Festival in March.
"Law & Order" is produced by Wolf Films in association with NBC Universal Television Studio. Dick Wolf, Nicholas Wootton, Matthew Penn and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.

I have seen some snippets of the script. Think Mel Gibson incident and ad a little murder.
As for the new ADA I actually hear alotta praise for her saying she's up there with Abbey and Jamie. I like her, though not so much priase for the new detective. Hopefully she will be more than just an Eames from season 1 in the next episode.

Spot on about the Mel Gibson reference jeff. Reuters.com"Law & Order" draws inspiration from Mel GibsonLOS ANGELES (Reuters) - While Mel Gibson secretly roams the United States testing reaction to his latest movie, "Apocalypto," one of television's longest running shows has decided to incorporate his recent legal troubles into an episode. Staying true to its "ripped from the headlines" style, "Law & Order," says it will air an episode on November 3 starring comedian Chevy Chase as a celebrity who is pulled over for drunk driving and then delivers an anti-Semitic rant at the arresting officers. But "Law & Order" creator Dick Wolf said that while a viewer could draw comparisons to Gibson's anti-Semitic comments after being arrested for drunk driving last July, the TV story goes a bit further. In the "Law & Order" episode, the Chase character turns out to have blood on his shirt belonging to a Jewish woman who had been the producer of his failed sitcom. Gibson pleaded no contest to drunk driving charges and was placed on probation. He is currently getting "Apocalypto" ready for release in December by showing it to test audiences. Over the weekend, he screened it in Oklahoma and Texas. The film is set in an ancient Mayan Indian empire and filmed in Mayan dialect. When Gibson screened the film in Texas, the Hollywood Reporter said he compared the U.S. troop deployment in Iraq to the kind of human sacrifice shown in the movie. Those comments raised some eyebrows in Hollywood where many people still have not accepted his apologies for making anti-Semitic comments when he was arrested. "Law & Order" just began its 17th season in a new Friday time slot. Wolf, in an interview with Reuters, said he hoped to keep the program on air for four more years, giving it a grand total of 21 years. If Wolf could do that, he would beat the record for longest running scripted series set by "Gunsmoke," the Western which lasted 20 years on TV.

Does anyone else miss Dennis Farina? I thought he brought out more in Jesse L. Martin, S. Epatha Merkerson, etc.. than Milena Govich.

Yep, never thought I say this, but I do miss Dennis Farina. I'm trying to give Govich a fair shake, but she's rubs me the same way Abbie did. I never really liked Abbie, even though she delivered one of my favorite L&O lines of all time:
"For God's sake, Jack, why don't you just start your own country? No cops, no bad guys, just sweetness and light as far as the eye can see."

Sorry, double post .. the reason I came to this thread in the first place is that I just saw the preview for the next episode, and why am I only just now finding out that Michael Shanks is guesting? That was him, right?

I've only caught a couple motherships this season, and haven't been too impressed. Regarding Dennis Farina: caught a rerun where they were messing with a hunting rifle and he was talking about hunting with an uncle or something, he said he prefered a crossbow that it gave the deer a more even chance. Van Buren (who I love) asked "Well, what weapon does the deer have" and he answered without missing a beat "Same as the cow". Loved that snark!

I found Cassady quite offensive last night.
Lt. Van Buren to Det. Beauty Queen: "I'm sure Mr. Mohammed is used to being a scapegoat by now." I only liked that and her scene with McCoy. Go, Anita!
Didn't see the episode you're referencing, Trisha, but I don't think Michael Shanks was in the episode. Too busy working on the two SG1 movies, I'd presume. ;D
Been catching the Fontana episodes on Bravo Canada. Sure do miss him.

I found nothing offensive about Cassady. I did however find Fontana VERY offensive and I certainly don't miss him. Also, I thought McCoy was out of line in fridays ep

I was referring to the part where Cassady insulted the man's religion in the interrogation room. I find it offensive when anyone insult's another's religion.
I think that Ziva put it best on NCIS a few weeks ago: When you insult his religion, you insult mine, you insult your own.

LAW & ORDER --(10:00PM-11:00PM) --(TV-14) 4-6-07
"Bling"
A RAP MUSICIAN IS FOUND MURDERED - And while there are multiple suspects, the reason for her demise is not the obvious one. Detectives Ed Green (Jesse L. Martin) and Nina Cassady (Milena Govich) are determined to find out whether this was a random homicide or connected to her work in the music business. Sam Waterston, Alana De La Garza, S.Epatha Merkerson and Fred Dalton Thompson also star.
Now the original is getting the Rap episodes for a change
