Regarding "the ending" it was laugh out loud funny - in the worst possible way. I wonder how many times they had to shoot the scene, because if it were me, I couldn't keep a straight face (no pun intended... ) Of course given what a dreadful actor she is, she probably took it seriously....

I think that there have been minor clues to SS and the whole "Is this because I'm a Lesbian" thing. Anyone read TWoP? It's a real hoot. I haven't seen the episode yet (it's taped) and can't really comment on Serena's final episode. Serena's replacement is named Alexandra Borgia according to tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,271|92660|1|,00.html Can't they come up with a completely original name for a change? That's an 'Alex' for each of the three shows!

Of coarse I read TWoP... because I'm a lesbian ;D And with that, the joke has been used for the 500th time.
My favorite post on the TWoP thread is the one that went something like this...
SS: "Is this because I'm a ..."
Voice Over: "Go to NBC.com now to vote."

HAHA...love the "Go to NBC.com now to vote..." Trish! Hilarious!
She was a Lesbian??? Wow, I've only caught a couple of episodes of the mothership with Seriena in them, I wasn't really impressed with her character. But take that with a grain of salt, cause I haven't been watching the mothership on Wed nights. Plus I was floored when Jerry died so suddenly, I will really miss him.
So, since I didn't see her final ep., did they just throw in the lesbian line at the end,--no future explanation or hints that she was gay in earlier episodes? Thats kinda a bomb to lay out there in the open, with no afore mentioned hints.
So the new girl screws up her first time out I see from the promos. And yea, they need to come up with some new names for these girls. "Alex" is getting overused.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is TWoP? I love that vote thing, gotta love a joke like that.
It does seem crazy to have so many Alex's, but then, my name is also very popular in my generation. Apparently in that mid-80s group of kids (Ashley, Laura, Meg(h)an, Katie/Katey)well, suffice to say you can't fling a dead cat without hitting duplicates. Nicknames become very useful.
But back to L&O...have not seen "The Third Man", but further evidence that they don't make movies like they used to. Love those old black and whites, can I getta "Amen" from the TCM crowd (Techguy...)? On an even shallower topic, did anyone else let out an (unladylike) snort when Fontana was trying to play smooth with Borgia? Ed, too, seemed to sit up and take notice but at least he was cool about it. I caught just a glimpse of Van Buren, but it seemed like she had an amused "Mmm-hmm" reaction to the boys.
As to Parisse's first episode...ehn. I should be used to the fact that L&O doesn't come in with a full-fledged bio of the person, guess I'll have to keep watching. Although, again, promos stunk. They implied that she did some earth-shatteringly dumb foo paw, when really the search warrant thing is one of the tamer examples of court proceeedings we've seen on the show.
I just wish that they wouldn't go on and on about good looking ADAs. No offense to Parisse, but Dick Wolf's comment about "exotic beauty"...it irritates me. What, he's proud of himself for acknowledging that attractive women can be competent? When has he ever cast an ordinary woman for a lead part? I'm not saying plug-ugly, just not models. There seems to be a mixed message that A: "You can be smart/successful and still be pretty, they don't have to be mutually exclusive" (a good point) but also the reverse flip is B: "If you're not pretty we don't care about your accomplishments, and you're not worth the attention." I mean, I came after the Women's Lib movement, so I can only imagine what it was like back in the 60s or earlier, but it's still frustrating.
Oh lord, you hear all that about the media's influence on today's youth, sorry to cram it down your throats. Welcome to Hamletta Lite, I'm stuck in all that Who Am I/What Do I Want/How Do I Get There college teenage required angst. But in the south, especially, women face a weird sort of double standard/balancing act. You're talking to someone whose mother read Molly Ivins religiously and thinks Eleanor Roosevelt walks on water--I'm pretty much in agreement-- about as far removed from the beauty queen aspirations as possible. Heck, I wanna be a Sweet Potato Queen when I grow up, so between that and the Brontes I ought to come to some (warped) sense of self.

OMG, a TWoP virgin! TWoP stands for www.televisionwithoutpity.com, a very big forum for TV shows, the people who love them, the people who hate them, and the people who love to hate them. Every show has a thread, and some of the more popular shows have forums of their own complete with a site moderator who recaps the episodes in their own snarky way. SVU used to have such a board, but it got PH'ed (put on permanent hiatus). So all 3 L&O's can be found in the Dramas section. I don't know who changed the title of the motherships thread, but now instead of "Law and Order: Original Flavor," it reads, "Law and Order: Is this because I'm a lesbian?" No doubt a tribute to the 20 or so pages of posts that line has garnered.

From the TVshowsonDVD.com website--Season 3 of Law & Order (original) is set for release on May 17 with an SRP of $59.98. No mention of any of the other L&O series; perhaps Universal Studios is only planning the singular release since this is the season Jerry Orbach joined the main cast.www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=2771

hey all iam back hey Observer iam toatly with you on this one,law and order has becomne more conservative and mccoy in parituclar has changed iand im not sure for the better. i still like series have not seen any epsidoes with the new guy yet in australia. tough i think it trying to show hwat is happening in reality at the moment and is trying to make a point by mirroring reality. and from what you and others have said about the way serena left it sounds lkike a somewhat weak way of wrtiing out a character. amybe there is a hidden intention on bringing her back on the opposite side of the fence( a defence lawayer that is) maybe where she can cause arthur and jack some grief( maybe make them regret fireing her or maybe do a jamie ross on us). oh well i just hope they dont decide to make a criminal intent case where serena kills jack and arthur and then goes eames and goren have to work out who did it. reagrds all rom.

The cross-over is this week. Caught the preview of the L&O portion. I guess we know how they're going to explain Green's absence for the rest of the season. Poor Ed!

Yes, Jesse L. Martin is going to be filming the "Rent" movie. I can't remember the name of the guy to be Fontana's temp, but I think the character is supposed to be his nephew or something. But at least we know it's not Claire Kincaid all over again, since there's been no rumor of Martin leaving we can presume/hope it will just be time to heal and rehab for the character. #nosmileys

Apologies for the disjointedness, but I'm tired and need to go to bed. And I was so frantic to switch to USA and tape "The Saint", only to have them show "eosphoros" instead (despite online websites). Argh!!
Well now I'll have to set a timer for Friday night TBJ. Haven't seen hardly any episodes with Fontana and/or Parisse, so I can't comment on those. I hate cases that deal with upper-crust business/lawyer greedy creeps, I get bored and disinterested.
I wonder how long Jesse L. Martin will be gone. Interesting staging of the shooting, it seemed almost anti-climactic that there wasn't alot of yelling and screaming or big booms, it just happened. A nice touch to have a lady who looked like Ed's Mom in the hospital at the end, I thought that was good. Although I know L&O isn't going to do this, I do wish somebody had had Kermit in the background for Ed. It's not easy being Green.

...I wonder how long Jesse L. Martin will be gone... For the rest of the season (four episodes in total, IIRC). Michael Imperioli starts his stint as Fontana's nephew in two weeks. Having seen the promos a number of times, the shooting scene wasn't all that dramatic. The suspense was all gone (there was more tension in the Fontana/McCoy scene at the end). But, it was a good episode overall. And you're right....it's not easy being Green! ;D

The L&O schedule has been tweaked!
Next week will be the new episode: PUBLISH AND PERISH
WILL PROSECUTORS LOSE BALANCE WHEN MURDERS OF PORN STAR AND PUBLISHER POINT DANGEROUSLY HIGH? -- "THE SOPRANOS" MICHAEL IMPERIOLI GUEST STARS -- The murders of an infamous porn actress and a maverick publisher, Devries (guest star Randy Graff ) plunge Detectives Fontana (Dennis Farina) and his temporary partner Falco (guest star Michael Imperioli, "The Sopranos") into a sensational case that spirals upward to an ambitious and powerful police commissioner (guest star Kevin Dunn) who's up for the nation's top security post. But as District Attorney Branch (Fred Dalton Thompson) warns, McCoy (Sam Waterston) and the police must tread lightly given the high-profile players -- especially when they discover a more intimate link. Annie Parisse and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.
The originally planned "Is this because I'm a Lesbian?" episode will instead be seen next Saturday.
