A note for Aussie VDO fans - EzyDVD are advertising 'The Winner' on their website as being available for sale from August 18, at a cost of $10. I've already ordered my copy!

Anyone want a VHS copy of this? I have an extra one & will trade it to you, FYI it is a used copy - watched about 2 or 3 times.

Has anyone seen The Winner? I just saw it. It's playing on The Movie Channel this month. I actually had to add the station to my package ($9.99/month) so I could DVR it. I can cancel at anytime (which I might if no VDO movies are coming up on it).
I think it might be one of those films Vincent has described as crappy, but he needed the money. Has a great cast; Rebecca DeMornay, Frank Whaley, Michael Madsen, Billy Bob Thornton & Delroy Lindo but everyone was overacting. Vincent plays a Happy Accident's kind of character, but more depressed & clueless. He looks great, though. I think he has a hairpiece on, his hair is straight & blond, but underneath it looks darker, like his own hair.
The ending was ambiguous and not very happy.

Yes, this is a mess of a movie--he's in a lot of those, unfortunately--but Mr. D'Onofrio is splendid. I found that I really cared about his character, but the film is very stylized and I think that's why there's so much overacting by everyone but Mr. D'Onofrio.
