First of all, the source of this pseudo report is Fox *gag* "news"--yeah, right, and I'm the Prince of Wales. Ho-hum *Yawn*
Second, the Modine book is a DIARY of his recollections and memories of what it was like during the filming of "Full Metal Jacket." I've seen this movie--it was one of the first, maybe the very first D'Onofrio movie I saw. I recall my own reactions at the time, how stressful and intense this movie is. The D'Onofrio performance especially--heck I think I would have gone a little crazy if I was involved with making this movie.
So Modine and D'Onofrio might have had words during the making of FMJ--again, so what? And again--consider the source. It's ONLY reporting Modine's reactions THEN. There's no mention of whether or not the two actors involved patched things up, no mention of anything about their personal or professional relationship NOW.
To paraphrase Forrest Gump, "Gossip is as gossip does." Ho-hum *Yawn*
