"Jamal Malik is one question away from winning 20 million rupees.
How did he do it?
A: He cheated B: He’s lucky C: He’s a genius D: It is destiny"You’ll know the answer to this question after watching this movie, or reading the book on which the movie is based on ("Q & A by Vikas Swarup). I’ve read the book about two years ago and it was quite entertaining. It doesn’t happen often that I like an adaption, but „Slumdog Millionaire“ is a movie worth seeing- in my own humble opinion. The leading actor seems distant from time to time, but he was good overall. The child actors did a very good job. „Slumdog Millionaire“ may not be as good as “Salaam Bombay“ ( which is, of course, much darker and harder to digest ), but still entertaining. Eva, "Slumdog" is the darling of the award shows here in the US this year. It could very well win this years Best Motion Picture at the Oscar Awards. I haven't seen it yet, but plan to.

Oh, good to hear that I knew that it was nominated for ten Oscars and that it has already won some awards, but I didn't think that it actually has a chance to win the one for the best picture. I hope it gets the Oscar for the best music, though, since A.R. Rahman is an amazing music director. I think Boyle did a great job in portraying the real life without being corny. Yes, there are moments that make you sad, but it still has a lot of light moments. I wrote yesterday that I liked "Salaam Bombay" more. This was a splendid movie, but of course totally different (no matter how often I watch it, it still has the power to break my heart and make me cry- the last scene of the movie especially). Movies like this normally don't have much success in South Asia. Even though the movie was dubbed in order to be shown there, I don't think there will be much people that will go and watch it. And, of course, like it. Mostly the young people in the bigger cities, I guess.

LOS ANGELES: The British teenage star of Oscar-tipped "Slumdog Millionaire," Dev Patel, is to join the cast of the next project by Hollywood director M. Night Shyamalan, the film industry press said on Monday.
Patel, 18, will take a part in "The Last Airbender," an adaptation of a sci-fiction animated television series about a clash between four nations which each control one of the elements, fire, water, earth and air.
Filming on the project will start in March in Greenland, Variety magazine said, adding the film would be distributed by Paramount studios.
Patel, born in Britain to a family of Indian origin, plays in the title role of "Slumdog Millionaire" about a young uneducated boy who wins a television quiz show.
The rags-to-riches drama set in Mumbai has won 10 Oscar nominations, including for best picture and best director for Briton Danny Boyle, and has already seized the top prize at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
