There is information both at The Reel and at NBC Message Board about Vincent's current projects. Filming for both will begin April 2007 in New York City:
TITLE: THE NARROWS, Feature Film. EXEC PROD: Michael Nozik PROD: Leslie Urdang, Ami Armstrong DIR: Francois Velle SCR: Tatiana Blackington. Shoot Dates: April, 2007 (in New York).
STORY: The film is about 21 years old Mike Manadoro struggling to find his place within two worlds; the life he wants, as an aspiring photographer and promising NYU student, and the life his father seems to want for him: making fast money running dangerous, mysterious errands for the neighborhood mobster.
(Seems that Vincent will be playing the father. Check The Reel for the link to character descriptions).
TITLE: STATEN ISLAND - Feature Film
Directed by James Demonaco. It also stars Ethan Hawke. Vincent plays the leader of a Staten Island mob ring.
According to IMDB, the three leads are taken. One is Hawke, the other two are L&O alumni. One was in Diamond Dogs. So, perhaps Vincent's role is as the mob leader is a little smaller.
According to the NBC Board Mod, Both movies are small Indie films.

Conjecture on The Reel & NBC Board is that Vincent could film both, since they are both filming here in NYC, and still finish up to do CI in July. Indie films usually wrap up quickly. It also looks like VDO's role in Staten Island isn't a lead.
It's good news that there is no directing involved with either film, since that is a huge commitment with traveling to other locations, etc. So this directing talk by Vincent isn't immediate, I suppose.
I mentioned at another site that if CI is slated for after football, that would give Vincent even more time to wrap up these projects. But that's really up in the air.

All this speculation about good news or bad news could go either way. However the cynic in me has been rolling my eyes a lot in my most recent posts about CI and Mr. D'Onofrio. Or is it rolling with the punches? "The plot thickens" and "Stay tuned" still apply.

Any and all speculation aside (I guess not only am I a glass half full kinda gal, I'm also not much for speculating ) I'm glad to hear he's got a couple of small projects coming up for this Summer. It'll be nice to see him do some different things again. I was so impressed with Thumbsucker (both as a whole and his work in particular), and it's great to see he's working on a couple more small films.

Thanks to the moderators (Rowe & her assistant Peachy) at the NBC Board, an update on one of Vincent's new projects this summer: SMALL TO BIG SCREEN AND BACK: With "One Tree Hill" a wrap for the season -- and possibly forever -- beautiful Sophia Bush aims to stretch her wings a bit. "I'm always looking to do something that's different. I don't want to do a movie where I'm playing the girl from the show. My goal for this hiatus is a small role with some great actors on a film that would allow me a little bit of personal time as well." She tells us she's "in the midst of getting a project." We've learned that project is the big screen "The Narrows," which is soon to go into production with Vincent D'Onofrio, Eddie Cahill and Roger Rees. It has Cahill as a New York University student and promising photographer -- whose father, D'Onofrio, wants him in the family business. Family as in mafia. Bush's last film also provided her a changeup -- last year's remake of the horror flick "The Hitcher," which comes out on DVD Tuesday (5/1). "I definitely enjoy the suspense of this kind of film, although I always feel kind of traumatized after seeing one," she admits. "It was an amazing experience to make it, and everyone became quite close on the film. I actually just attended the producer's son's bar mitzvah." As for that personal time she wants, "It's been a while" since she's had any, acknowledges Bush, whose short-lived marriage to costar Chad Michael Murray ended in 2005. Now she's looking forward to "hanging out with my parents and friends and going for walks with my dogs." Here is the link: The NarrowsI highlighted the part about this fitting into her hiatus. Makes me feel better, for obvious reasons, about VDO's plans for the Fall.

Variety has this small mention about "Staten Island":Posted: Fri., May 11, 2007, 2:51pm PT
Why Not collects directors Shingle keeping busy with 'Staten,' Loach film[/b] By ALISON JAMES PARIS -- Like the company's publicity-shy topper Pascal Caucheteux, the French production shingle Why Not keeps a decidedly low profile. Currently shooting Stateside is the Ethan Hawke, Vincent d'Onofrio and Samuel Cassel starrer "Staten Island," which is the helming debut of "The Negotiator" and "Assault" scribe James de Monaco. Luc Besson's Europacorp is co-producing and handling international sales. Thesps play three Staten Islanders whose lives intersect in "a multi-layered tale like 'Crash,' " Caucheteux says.[/color]

Nice interview with the author of the novel Heart of the Old Country (the title was changed to The Narrows for the film). He also edited a fiction anthology called Brooklyn Noir, which looks very interesting. Here's a snippet from the interview and a link: www.brooklyneagle.com/categories/category.php?category_id=27&id=13419This is a good time to be you — your first novel, “Heart of the Old Country,” has just been made into a film.Yes, filming just wrapped last week. It was shot mostly out in Bay Ridge, and some indoor scenes were filmed in Astoria, Queens. But it was shot on location in Brooklyn. Did you stipulate that? No, it was agreed upon. I think everyone wanted it that way. It’s an independent film that’s coming out by Serenade Films and Mister Nice Productions. I think it’s Serenade’s fourth movie, they’ve done “Game 6” and “Twelve and Holding” and “Great New Wonderful” — all pretty much on the same model. It’s kind of guerrilla filmmaking and we’ve got some good people attached to it. Vincent D’onofrio and Kevin Zegers and Sophia Bush and Eddie Cahill are terrific actors. They really threw themselves into it, so I’m really happy with the way it comes off. It’s very much an out-of-body experience to suddenly see people walking around, saying words you’ve written, and acting out scenes you wrote. I’m sure it happens to anyone who has had their work adapted, but it’s certainly never happened to me before.

I mentioned at another site that if CI is slated for after football, that would give Vincent even more time to wrap up these projects. But that's really up in the air. Most midseason shows start filming in July anyway since they end the season at the same time with the same amount of episodes, it just means less repeats in between all new episodes. I hope that made sense. I'm half asleep here.

I wasn't sure where to ask this question...but has LOCI started filming for season 7? I thought it would probably start in June or July to be ready for the fall opener. So can VDO film both LOCI and a movie at the same time, even if they both film in NYC? If anyone should know this, I know this is the board to ask.

The Reel has some photos & a link to information about Staten island, Vincent's new film being produced by & starring his buddy Ethan Hawke.
VDO sure makes a convincing looking mob boss. His name in the film is "Parmy." Does anyone think it refers to a love of Veal Parmigiana (ala Goren in APOI)?
