I've also seen it twice, and yeah, the tribbles got some giggles both times, as did the RedShirt. One of my girls is now crushing on Kirk and the other on Spock. I have to say, Pine is a good looking guy, but I'm leaning toward Quinto and his Spock

There are some lovely little references for long time fans of the show and movies. My friend Zach, who came to this film with only a little knowledge of the series, asked me about some of them, and now wants to see the original series if only to get these references.

Oh, Patcat, the subtext! The screaming, hilarious, unbelievably slashy subtext!! I haven't checked out the fanfiction for the film yet, but there was plenty of Kirk/Spock in there to work with. One line that made me giggle rather deviously was when McCoy compared Kirk to a stallion and Spock replied that he'd have to be broken first. Lol!!

I may have to expand my horizons beyond the LOCI world and start writing me some Star Trek fics. ;D

Finally. After final exams were over, I finally got the chance to see this movie and was completely bowled over with laughter and nostalgia. My biggenst concern prior to seeing it was I feared it would cater too much to the younger crowd and not pay enough homage to the spirit and legacy of ST. I need have no such fear, because this film satisfied all my expectations and exceeded them. The casting was superb, who managed to look and sound like the originals from the TV series without copying them.
The references and inside jokes were hilarious, and the action adventure component held my attention throughout. Not since Khan threatened planetary destruction in the second feature film have we had a raging vengeful villain like Nero. Will Kirk encounter Edith Keeler...again? Will Spock be drawn to T'Pring...again? No spoilers intended here, but from the looks of things, Spock is experiencing pon farr at a much greater frequency than every 7 years!
Two moments especially stand out. On a serious note: Spock's tone and demeanor as he gives the Vulcan salute "Live long and prosper" as he rejects the invitation to the Vulcan Science Academy. For comic relief: Scotty's orgasmic glee as he shouts "I can't wait to get my hands on the Enterprise's ample nacelles." What more could I ask for?

I saw it and loved it. I liked all the younger versions of spock, kirk, scotty, checkov, bones, sulu. Loved, loved loved the fencing/transporter scene. One (minor gringe) the yound doctor was no where near as obstreperously stressed out as the original. He could have insulted everyone more.
Unlike Eminem, I missed many of the scotty/kirk 'cracks' that you guys pointed out so I guess I'll have to see it again.
By the way, Chris Pine is dating Audrina from the Hills - hope this doesn't make him go down in anyone's estimation.

I wanted so much to see this film in the theaters but it just didn't happen. When I eventually rented it I was so very disappointed. Lots of action which is nice, and something I did want. But the plot wasn't that good, the actor's weren't that good. My review of the film Star Trek ReviewSPOILERThe one thing that bothered me the most about this film was the fact that Kirk goes from pimply faced Cadet on a Starship he isn't even supposed to be on to Captain of said starship. Skipping every rank except First Officer in one mission! I know Star Trek isn't realistic in a lot of ways and I know that it tends to have a lot of plot holes but this one is just ridiculous. One that I couldn't buy. The Original Series of Star Trek was cheesy and action packed and had lots of werid science. But at it's core it was about humanity and it's life lessons. This is not that Star Trek. Just action with a bad plot, and bad actors.
