I don't know if it is the same in the US, but in Canada October is breast cancer awareness month.
This Sunday October 4th, the CIBC Run for the Cure will take place at different locations all over Canada.
I will be present, all decked out in pink, at the Montreal location with my mommy who's battling this disease.

Mimi, you are one of the greatest treasures of this site, and you should tell your beloved maman how much her gifted child is also loved , even by perfect strangers. Avec mes meilleurs sentiments et compliments.
Please excuse terrible French. For those of you who don't know, Mimi is a professional French to English (or /and vice versa) translator, She's a knock-out mind, in either language.
I think pink today. xxxxDB

I've noticed the NFL players have been wearing pink and there's been pink on the fields lately in support of the fight against breast cancer. I wish I could remember what player it was, but one, when asked if he minded wearing pink, said, "No. We got mothers and sisters and daughters and grandmothers, too."
A friend of mine has just gotten through radiation and chemo for Stage three of breast cancer. The doctors are making optimistic noises.

As many on this board already know, this is a cause that's especially important to me and my wife.
Best wishes to your Mom Mimi, and to your friend Patcat.

Mimi, thank you reminding us all that October is breast cancer month.
I'll keep your dear Mom in my prayers. Your friend too, Patcat. I know many people who have beaten this disease.

Bump! For the 2010 edition. Of course I will be there dressed in pink (God I hate this colour).
Mom's doing great, the hair not so good...It's not growing godammit!!! She finished her chemo and radiotherapy in February (on my birthday, what a great gift, don't you think!) she should have hair down her butt by now...don't you think?
If you want to make a donation PM me, I'll walk you through!

Thanks for the reminder Mimi. There are local events where I am the first weekend in October, and Mrs. T and I are going to participate. The timing is great because we leave for DC later in the week for our annual Capitals/Ovie pilgrimage to the Verizon Center temple. Taking online courses will allow for a much longer trip than in the past. Surely I can keep up with my class assignments, fantasy leagues, and blogs/fansites posting on the road.
