New ariticle this time in a newspaper, not a blog site, by Ron Salem columnist in The Toronto Star Newspaper here in Canada, states in his column dated May 17th 2010, that Criminal Intent is expected to follow Law and Order off the air later this summer. That would make it probably July if they show the episodes straight through instead of a split season.

Did Mr. Salem cite any sources? If he didn't, I'd suspect this is sheer speculation on his part, although there is a certain terrible logic to it.

All i can say is, I have the article beside me it was written in his column yesterday May 17th. The Toronto Star Newspaper where he has his column is a well respected newspaper, not a tabloid. This article goes into great detail about all the networks NBC, CBS, ABC, as well asthe cw. I can't speak to the question of sources but as he has had this column for quite some time I seriously doubt he would speculate about a cancellation, he would print it only after checking with someone in the business. How he does this I don't know, how does anyone who writes an entertainment column get their sources, I'm sure they have valid access. Anyway, there should be word shortly one way or another, there is an article on The Futon Critic, it says it is an announcement from USA, don't know if that is true, I prefer to believe the newspaper accounts rather than Blog sites.

Thanks, crimefighter. I didn't mean to be obnoxious about this, but there are so many rumors this time of the year, and we've gone through some very wild rides with LOCI's state in the past.

The article posted on the Futon Critic was taken down - most likely because it was based on that false press release. I read some of what the article said and it was basically saying the same thing as that fake release.
However, this other speculation, about the show being "off the air" after the summer - I don't know. It could be that the writer extrapolated an opinion from the false release - but who knows?
As Patcat said, we've been through the wringer with rumors before. We'll have to wait and see.

Yes of couse there has been way too much speculation, and the false news report didn't help matters. I saw the article, it was the first time I had seen anything in print in a newspaper, so I posted it. I'm sure USA will release a statement when they see fit, the fans be damned. Anyway out to do lawn work, can't put it off any longer Yechhhh!

Oh, crimefighter, don't feel bad about posting the article. Far be it for me to complain about anyone posting articles (g).
And I'm just getting used to the new team. (Sigh).

Someone on the USA Board has posted that the show has been renewed, says it was pending on a list on TV Guide Canada Sympatico/MSN. And now she has read it has been green lit for renewal, anyone here see this article?

I'd be skeptical about anything connected with TV GUIDE. Again, I want to stress I'm not complaining about people posting these articles. I'm just suggesting caution when it comes to these reports.

It was this time last year that USA made the decision to renew for a Season 9. So it is possible that the news is accurate, and TV Guide does like to jump on this kind of thing first.

The person who posted that article has said that she now realizes it was about Canadian TV and so it may not have anything at all to do with the US renewals of any shows. It may be specifically stating what shows will be showing in Canada. DJ, I didn't think they decided anything final until middle or late summer with regards to their cable lineup and the article that was posted did not mention any of USA's other shows. At this point, who knows.

Yeah it probably meant that for us Canadians, it's been "renewed" meaning, they'll start airing Season 9 soon since they last aired Season 8 here.

- I don't know what CI's average rating is. I don't know what CI's average rating was back when G/E were on. Could you clarify for me?
