My hope, after seeing the excellent issues of this "final" season, is that we'll get to see more of LOCI. But I recognize this may be the end of LOCI. (That's hard to write.)
One of my great hopes is that this terrific board will not fade away and that I won't lose contact with the terrific people I've met here. I plan to keep visiting here as long as there's activity. I may even bring back the EOTW if people want.
I like you people. I'd rather be with you than with the best people in the world (g). And I'd like to stay in contact.

I'm sad to think that this board will slowly fade into the sunset. Patcat, we can always get together for lunch and discuss our mutual respect for LOCI.

Patcat, I'm glad you started this thread! Coming to this board has been a part of my "Internet life" since 2004 and I just can't imagine it being over and not feel that I can come here and see what's going on in the LOCI universe. The thing that (from Day1) has always impressed me about this board is the caliber of the content and the continual high level of discussion of the show. If LOCI is really over (That is hard to write!), I don't even want to think about losing this site too! I will continue to participate and hope others will as well.

For those of us who have been members here for many years this isn't the first time that we have had to face the possible ending of LOCI. There have been more than a few cancellation scares. Since Season 5 ended, LOCI has been on the bubble in terms of renewal. Somehow it's always managed to make it to the next season. Usa saved it from cancellation from NBC. Now, with the breakdown of the sets at Chelsea Piers, it looks like now it really is the end. Patcat. I hope that you will keep with the EOTW. I know its a lot of work. And this site will continue to be a daily visit for me, as long as it exists.

Kathryn Erbe urged us to voice our wants to ci.usanetwork this evening during the Twitter chat so...
Where's that fat lady? Is she singing yet? Hmm....

From Kacesq on the "Trophy Wine" thread:
I'm disappointed that there wasn't more explanation too, but this show is notorious for leaving big open blanks for us to fill in ourselves. They also never explained away Carver, Wheeler, Nichols, or Stevens. Apparently Eames' mom has passed away and Donny is still missing. They let us use our imaginations.
My fear is that the end will be too ambiguous or that Goren will be addressed but Eames will be ignored. There has been a lot of emphasis on Eames' personal life this season so far:
In "Consoler" Eames made a comment about looking on that dating site. In "Boots" she said it is hard to meet a man. In "Last Street" her singleness and "having been hurt by men" was pointed out. In "Wine" Paula clarified that Eames hasn't remarried in all these years with Bobby. It has been repeatedly brought to our attention that Eames is alone.
If we don't get some closure about Eames, wouldn't that leave a great big honkin' unresolved hole that they have been digging all season? I hope the re-written last episode has a feeling of continuity and wraps up the previous 7 episodes with BOTH of our beloved characters happy!

My hope is that someone will take pity on me and explain what on the great green Earth is going on!
The last episode I saw was supposed to be the last one with G & E. Even though we both love watching Jeff Goldblum, without Goren, Eames or Balcer, LOCI was no longer a high enough priority, for me or my sister, to justify the cost of cable, so we turned cable off. We don't have a box to convert digital broadcast for our old TV, so we've been without TV ever since. So I don't buy TV Guide or pay attention to TV-oriented entertainment news. Our PC gave out around the same time, so I don't spend much time online. I do have a smart phone now, which is how I'm posting, but it navigates this site slowly, and I haven't been able to track exactly how we came to have 8 more G & E episodes . . . And even a brief return of Balcer!
Last night my sister referred to something Mr. Balcer once said to me in an email. That got us talking about what an amazing accomplishment the Balcer/D'Onofrio collaboration was -- creating a character who so deeply and realistically embodied the effects of childhood trauma that his backstory could be accurately read in the subtle nuances of his affect. Talking about it made me miss the conversations and camaraderie of this board, so I grabbed my little flip-phone and stumbled into a discussion of . . . Goren, Eames and Balcer getting cancelled . . . Again!
Help me out here, someone. How did they come back? What happened to Goldblum? Do they really want to come back long term? If so, what are we doing to help make that happen? And, oh yeah, does ANYONE have video tapes of those 8 episodes??? (I'm dyin' here, guys!)
Anyone who wants to talk to me privately, don't try to email me -- I can't access the old email listed in my profile, so you should use the message system on this board.
It's so great to see you guys again!!!

To attempt to answer some questions:
There's been no real explanation of where Goldblum's character went. Or his partner. (He did have a partner, didn't he? (g)) Also, no explanation of where Goren and Eams went and how they came back. And maybe they'll never tell us so that fanfiction can run riot!

Nichols and Stevens disappeared on the same undercover case Carolyn Bareck has been working since 2006. She needed help.

I'm okay with not knowing what they were doing during the time they were "away" from MCS. I'm already writing that...I don't need any help!
