;D Probably should have put this in the birthday thread, but I thought it might be interesting to discuss just what my favorite fictional detective might be doing to mark this milestone 50th birthday? Any ideas? A poker game with Lewis and his buddies? Drinks at his neighborhood bar? A surprise party organized by Eames ( that's for you skittles!). Huddled on the floor in his kitchen? And thanks NW for letting us know when our detective was born...see everyone... she was good for something!

LOL- Yes, NW was good for revealing Bobby's birthday to us! Thanks Leonore! Alex did plan a nice surprise for him, but it was a party just for two: Bobby celebrated the big 5-0 with Alex. She surprised him with a romantic birthday weekend! On Friday evening they drove out of the city to a small town and checked into a lovely hotel. Then they dined in a little Italian restaurant where Bobby enjoyed eggplant parmesan followed with grappa made by the owner of the restaurant. Alex’s hands were busy under the generous tablecloth (like Judge Garrett’s girlfriend from In the Wee Small Hours). After dinner they returned to their room (with the king size bed and heart shaped Jacuzzi tub) where she finished what she started. Saturday morning, they woke up and ordered breakfast in bed from room service (no scones!) and requested lots of sugar for the coffee. After taking their time getting out of bed and indulging in a long leisurely shower, they went downtown to a classic car show and both had a good time checking out engines. Later they took a walk around the town’s historic district, reading all signs marking significant landmarks and taking pictures. A used bookstore caught their attention and they spent some time looking through the dusty shelves making selections for themselves and choosing childhood favorites for Molly and Alex’s nephew. Back in the room before dinner, Alex, performing as his own personal boom-boom girl, gave Bobby a private show. Following a nap, they had a late dinner then relaxed in a little bar listening to jazz while he sipped Glenlivit and she enjoyed a martini, double vodka, easy on the vermouth. Sunday morning they left early so Bobby wouldn’t miss his appointment with Dr. Gyson. He said it was his best birthday ever!

WoW! skittles! YOU are what my Mama would've called "A Mess!" when I was growing up! ;D I had thoughts of a nice dinner, maybe steak and pasta and a bottle of very nice barbaresco...I'm not a shipper as you know, but you seem to have it all planned out for Goren and Eames!

LOL Funny! My mom would think I'm a mess too! I don't share my LOCI musings with my family. If you met me in RL you would find a ordinary soccer mom who works part time during the school year, runs her kids to piano and dance lessons, and volunteers in the school and church. I love letting the silly part of me come out and play with y'all! ;D If only I could harness this energy and imagination for the greater good.... The nice steak dinner you described would be much more likely if we actually saw him celebrating his birthday on the show!

I picture him going to work like any other day, spending the day thinking no-one knows or remembers and just working through a case - and then that evening being surprised on the way out with cake and a quiet drink in the Captain's office with the Captain and Eames.
We all think about this character way too much!!!

You were like, "Oh that was the same green phone we had, with the same long cord, and that bathroom was just like my grandmother's....
I would have thought YOU were Viola Davis if I didn't know better.

Skittles, how the hell did you know how Bobby and I spent the weekend?

Coincidence. We were thinking of doing a remake of Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice except it would be called MJ and Bobby and Skittles and Logan.

Skittles, how the hell did you know how Bobby and I spent the weekend? I was spying on you! How did you like that Italian sausage? meggyd, we do think about this too much- but it is such fun! MJ- You are close, but we didn't have a maid. I was The Help in my mother's kitchen! I've never seen Bob and Carol... but Skittles and Logan sounds good to me! I forgot to mention how Eames served Bobby his b-day cake... but just as well- I would probably get kicked off this forum!
