The new Dr. Who airs here on Fridays on SciFi channel. I've seen a few episodes, and it's not a bad show. I'm still not sure if I would call it a good one, though.

We saw this for the first time last night. Great show. Dr Who's sidekick reminds me of a young Oliva D'Abo. Pretty girl with an overbite. I liked it when she she introduced Dr Who, as Mr Spock. and then explaining to Dr Who...that he is a doctor without a name. my only complaint about the show is that its a serial..... and the storyline dosent end in one show. Oh well....thats not too big of a complaint

No the new show has nothing on the old Doctor Who. It's been revved up for today and not in good way. It's no longer unique or even imaginative. Plus this new doctor has already left the show to pursue a movie career.

I never saw the original, so I can't compare. Their was humor and the storyline held my interest. Plus the special effects for a tv show where quite impressive. they gave me the heebie geebies. It might be a kids show, but so was Fragglerock

OK, so a little background on Dr Who... is he really over 900 years old? Or did I hear that wrong?

We came rushing home from the store just to watch Dr Who, only to discover that he wasn't on!! there was a movie about a snake charmer instead. I hope he is back next week. I find the show refreshing, intriguing and funny

I think this show will probably air in marathons several times before the new season airs in the US. I believe they may have a marathon on SCI FI in July.
I read where David Tennant takes over as Dr. Who but the actress who plays Rose is only in one or 2 more seasons after the Dr. Who in the current SCI FI airings left. It looks like Dr. Who has more cast changes than even L&O the original.

There will be a 8 episode marathon on SCI FI on July 5. There were 10 episodes. Hopefully they will show the 2 part finale again.

Rose's mom was asking the doctor if he would take good care of her daughter. and when would she see her daughter again. Rose explain time travel to her mother, "Light years was actually just a few seconds........ and that she would be back very soon". Both Rose and Dr Who, stepped into his time machine.....and Rose's mom walked down the road.

Maybe you are some episodes behind us ... the season finale was a few weeks ago here and
spoiler warning ...
it was a two part episode where Rose, The Dr. and Jack(?) all got zapped out of the Tardis and into reality tv shows in the distant future (what the Dr. says should be the 4th Great and Bountiful Human Empire) where the losers are killed. When they escape, they find out that the whole thing is being perpetrated by Darliks (sp?) who then kidnap Rose and launch a full scale invasion.

Russell Davies has made it his own and the psychology is so well developed. I cant say the same for The Prisoner series. I have all the scripts of that. Nothing can ever better those scripts, especially the last four episodes!Anyone know it? I agree, I watched this series on BBCA 2 summers ago after picking up sale VHS tapes over the years and finally got to see every episode and it really holds up so a remake of this show is just "silly" when viewers can enjoy the original show on TV or DVD. Since Dr. Who has been changing actors since the 1960s, viewers are used to seeing the changes but only one actor played The Prisoner and on less than 20 episodes. Thank you again for your information about Dr. Who, I had now idea about the number 13 being the last.

No I have never seen this series nor heard anyone talk about it like I heard people talk about The Prisoner or Dr. Who.
The Prisoner was always considered before its time. I remembered it vaguely airing when I was a child and heard others talk about the show. Then in the early 1990s when Twin Peaks received a great deal of media attention it was compared to The Prisoner and Bravo or SCI FI aired reruns but I did not have cable so I would rent or buy VHS titles of various episodes that were available and then finally the show aired on BBCA and still airs on BBCA with 3 consecutive episodes some weekends or in the early morning hours. Where some 1960s shows are so dated this one really holds up.
I never watched Dr. Who when it was on PBS and people would gather in dorm lounges to watch it every day but I have watched some episodes of the new series and I enjoy the interaction between this Dr. Who and Rose. I hope to catch the marathon in July and other episodes to be ready for the "next Dr. Who" and see how he interacts with Rose. I don't know if this Dr. Who series will survive the departure of Rose since she has become such a dominant character in this new Dr. Who series. I hope SCI FI will air series 2 and 3 of Dr. Who.
