I know we've got separate threads for Morse and Cadfael already, but I figured we could throw this up for the various characters and series. Bit more current, might be easier to just play it week by week if there are any other fans. I grew up with parents who wached "Mystery!", Mom mainly and Dad tagged along, but they loved 'em. So while I'm hardly reliving my childhood, it does have this cozy, coming home, settle in for a good story (and cool accents!) sort of feeling.
Just saw the first episode in this round of Inspector Lynley, "In Divine Proportion". I hadn't seen the previous episodes, but I was impressed. Fairly solid mystery-wise (I'm not a connoisseur), like the characters. Havers seems a neat lady, and though I hadn't seen her before the shooting she could be an interesting character. Lynley I couldn't get too much on at first, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more. And I'm about to scurry over to "You Might Be a CI fan" considering all the connections I was picking up on.

I liked Lynley better in this episode than I have in episodes from seasons 3 & 4. His wife Helen drug the stories down for me and she brought out the worst in his character. Helen returns in a later episode this season but by a different actress which is a good idea since I thought the last one was weak in the role. Lynley was much more likeable and more supportive of Haver is this recent episode. The early episodes were based on Elizabeth George novels but some of the episodes from the last series and all of this new series were not based on the novels. I read where the last novel has something tragic happening to one of the leads so I wonder if it will ever show up on screen. P.S. In the books, sometimes Lynley and Havers are not the lead detectives, there has been a book or two where two other detectives are the leads. Now does that sound like a certain TV series or what? I read an interview with Elizabeth George the writer and they asked "will Havers and Lynley become a couple?" and she said "over my dead body"
