Anyone catch the premiere of Studio 60... tonight? Missed about 15 minutes in the middle, but what I saw I thought was absolutely fabulous. Lots of familiar faces. Judd Hirsch was fantastic in the opening scenes.

I watched intermittently and based on what I saw and heard, I'm definitely going back for at least a second look next week. This is noteworthy, because due to time constraints and personal choice, I watch little if any network TV shows other than "CI." "Studio 60" looks and sounds intelligent, written and intented for intelligent and discriminating viewers.
I chuckled at the self-referential naming of the fictional network as NBS and one character's comment about "not being one of the big 3." At least someone at NBC has a sense of humor, or at least doesn't have too inflated an ego to take offense.
"We're all being lobotomized!" Judd Hirsch's character bellows evangelist-style at his viewing audience. Indeed. And with his astonished studio technicians looking on in horror, the only thing missing was an accompanying Greek chorus with clips of reality shows rolling in the background. I hope this premiere episode is not the last we see of Hirsch. His performance as a TV version of Peter Finch in "Network" is already one of the highlights of the new season.
Yes, a second helping of "Studio 60" is definitely in order.

I also enjoyed this show, it is intelligent, funny, very well written. I was a huge fan of the West Wing so I was hoping this would be as good and I was not dissapointed. The cast is also really good. It is difinitely worth watching or recording if it is on too late for those of you who go to bed early.

I really had no idea what this show was going to be like - the ads sort of gave you a 'dramedy' feel so I was unsure if I would enjoy it. But I did! Very sharp and witty and definitely worth another look. Liked the chemistry between Perry & Whitford and I LOVE Weber as the sleazy network honcho. It does have that distinctive "West Wing" style - including the credits - but I suppose that is to be expected since it is from their creators. Thumbs Up, so far... caseyswife

Yep, Aaron Sorkin writes smart dialogue and interesting characters. Daddy and I bonded over "Sports Night" back in high school, and he loved "West Wing", but I don't know if he's seen this yet. I didn't realize Judd Hirsch was in "Studio 60" as well, the rest of the cast (Bradley Whitford, TImothy Busfield) looked promising.
As to NBC, if Conan O'Brian could do the "Trouble" during the Emmys ("I say we're in trouble right here at NBC, and that starts T and that rhymes with G as in 'Gee, we're screwed'!"), well, they know.

This is one of the few new shows that I think will get a second season. I like it so far.

Last night, I had a few LOL moments. ;D
Between this show and "Heroes", I do believe that my Monday nights now belong to NUTS.

Just had to pop in a comment that I've seen at least three LOCI alums on this show now... the PA/New Assistant Meredith Wever from "Tomorrow" -- Dr. Tiny Underpants from "Zoonotic" as the reporter from Time that Jordan just blew off -- and I saw "Probability" last night and the son of the homeless guy that was killed to start things off is one of the main players...the one that got arrested a couple weeks ago on the show...
might be an NBC casting thing, but I thought it was interesting.

It looks like NBC will keep this show on Mondays until March when it will be replaced by Black Donnellys a new series created by Paul Haggis (Crash and Million Dollar Baby)

So, does that mean it's canceled or just "on the bubble"?

Looks like NUTS is trying to give the show a chance. Even though it doesn't do well in the ratings, it gave the show a full season order. Anyone catch this week's episode "The Christmas Show"? That one was extremely well done. It will be repeating on December 18 th.

Sorkin does well with Christmas episodes. I can still remember The West Wing's first one, In Excelsis Deo.
