From TV Guide printed edition :
AMC recaptures The Prisoner : Filming should start this spring on a remake of The Prisoner, the iconic British sci-fi series that ran on U.S. TV in 1968. A new Number Six is yet to be cast, but there could be a part for Patrick McGoohan, who played the original title role of a captive in a surreal village. AMC also hopes to run the original 17 episodes. "We plan to treat it with the respect it deserves" promises AMC general manager Charlie Collier. "So many of its themes including the battle of the individual against the system, are relevant today."
I really enjoyed this show when it ran on BBCAmerica a couple of summers ago. Where most of the 1960s sci fi TV shows appear so dated and many were more preoccupied with the latest fashion, The Prisoner holds up today. In a way I think they are wasting time with a new version when they can just air the old ones but if Patrick McGoohan has a role and they can still depict the village as a "character" the remake may be worth checking out. I like the new Dr. Who shows so I suppose sometimes a remake series can work if it has good writers and actors.

I remember The Prisoner from my youth, its been awhile, but I wouldn't mind see it again. Dr Who, made me a fan of Christoper Eccleston, so I would be thrilled to see him play the remake as well!! The Avengers, I just saw this on the telly a few weeks ago. I loved that show too when I was a kid Diana Rigg always had matching boots to her hip pant suits. but she really didnt know karate did she

I don't know if he is still on board or not since he is going to be a recurring character on Heroes beginning Jan. 22. On that show he will be playing a very prominent role on the show as a hero with power to be "invisible." Of course it is like Lost or 24, actors never really know how long they are going to stay on those shows before they are killed off.
