I think Annabella Sciorra is brilliant. On the surface she's 'flat and disinterested' as another poster on this site writes, but underneath she's on fire. In the episode about the serial killer targeting mom & pop jewelry stores, look at how she counts out the number of bullet holes, then says "His rage is building", in that flat voice of hers. Her entire 'projection' when she enters the crime scene (and this is in both of her two episodes that have aired so far) reminds me of the description of Sherlock Holmes in 'A Study in Scarlet' (the very first Holmes story), talking about how important it is to get to the crime scene as soon after the crime as possible, and positively quivering with excitement picking up the clues. I think you have to go back to Jodie Foster in 'Silence of the Lambs' for a portrait of a crime fighter as intense and dedicated. I think the creators of LOCI were looking for Sciorra to fill the 'Sherlock Holmes' slot that D'onofrio fills in his segments.
And look at this from the Oct 21, 2005 Entertainment Weekly, 'The Must List': ANNABELLA SCIORRA AND CHRIS NOTH A note to NBC: Whoever brought Noth's Det. Mike Logan to L&O Criminal Intent and partnered him with Sciorra deserves a very big raise."
This quote reflects the excitement I feel about Sciorra and Noth on LOCI

Neither can I. While the new actors are excellent in their own right, the new charactors are bland, and difficult to watch.
I tried sitting through last night's episode, but it was just too boring, and ddin't "grab" my attention like the old charactors have in the past. Let's face it: Those 'old' charactors have made this show!
And yet I am simpathetic to D'Onofrio's problems from being over-worked. In my opinion: Do the right thing - Give your actor the break they require, end the show, or create (refine) BETTER 'replacement' charactors! Please!
Truely I'm bored to death with what I tried watching last night. If the show continues in this manner I might move to the 'ex-fan' category.

I can't agree about comparing the Barek character to the Clarisse Starling character in "Silence of the Lambs". Barek, to me, has no personality whatsoever. I haven't seen any thing other than an almost robotic flatness. And I have seen Annabella Sciorra do some good things. Starling, as played by Jodie Foster, had tons of personality. You could see her tension, insecurity, fear, anger, all the emotions. I haven't seen Barek have ANY emotions.

Mr. D.Onofiro is this part. I can not watch the new season with the new crew Mr. Big and other women. I can understand your perspective, but don't quite agree. D'Onofrio plays Goren. Noth is not stepping into that part, and he's not partnered with "other women" -- just one. (One I find to, thus far, be the weakest link of the new episodes.) Noth and Sciorra have joined the show to portray two different characters for half the season because it was the only way D'Onofrio would stay with the series. While I agree that, so far, the Goren/Eames episodes are more to my liking than the Logan/Barek episodes, I have to remember that there have only been two episodes and the writers and actors are still feeling their way. Maybe the Logan/Barek episodes will grow on us both. Maybe not. Either way, nobody's taking Goren's role from him.
