Could anyone tell me if it is true that Vincent is leaving the show after the 5 season. Someone from another group told me that he is leaving after the 5season and will not be returning. I hope that this isn't true, as Bobby Goren makes CI along with Eames. If anyone knows anything please let me know.

Mr. D'Onofrio's original contract was for five years, which is a standard for TV series. He's certainly indicated in the past that he wouldn't resign after that period, but in several recent interviews he's indicated interest in going beyond that.
So, the short answer is that no one is really sure (g).

If he is planning on leaving after this season I do not think he would admit before the season is over. I think it might make some viewers stop watching.

I really hope that Vincent stays on even for another couple of years, as it wont be the same without him.

Well, it all hinges on if the show gets renewed as well I haven't seen anything that says if Noth will be on past one season, everyone's been very cagey.

I guess the bottom line is, no one knows for sure - except, perhaps, Vincent himself and Dick Wolf. There are dozens of possibilities, and we could go nuts arguing them all out. I can't help thinking back to the radio interviews he did while he was in Australia. He stated categorically that he hoped fans would give Chris Noth a chance, because if it weren't for Dick Wolf bringing Chris in to share screen time, Vincent would have had to quit. And that he feels, with this new arrangement, that he still has a few years left in him to be able to continue on with CI.
I, for one, hope he stays on, but if he doesn't then I'll be grateful we at least had him for five seasons. As for cancelling the show after season 5, I find it hard to imagine that would happen, though I suppose anything is possible.

I agree blucougar57 that they shouldn't cancel CI after 5 years, it should carry on as the story lines are great and they all put their heart and soul into each episode. like you I am so happy and grateful that we have had Vincent on our screens for 5 years, and those 5 years were great.

If VDO leaves, that will be sad. I like the Goren character a lot. I also hope that, if he does leave, it won't mean that we'll have to lose Eames with him. But I think Sciorra and Noth are here to stay, and, if you really are a fan of the show and not just VDO's, then you'll just have to pay more attention to the plot and criminals until you get to know and like the detectives better. It took me a whole season, but I finally kind-a-sort-a like Fontanna. He can never replace Lennie in my heart, but that's okay. He's entertaining in his own right. At the very least, he's not orange anymore.
Remember that, Nikki?

Funny you should mention the orange, Trisha. ;D Couldn't help thinking of that combo this week, when I saw how FINE Fontana looked in the mauve-ish combination.

Does anybody know for sure why Dick Wolf decided to split the time between D'onofrio and Noth? I've heard several stories.
The first one was that Vincent is having personal problems, is completely exhausted and needed a break. The second one is that Dick Wolf decided himself that he wanted to replace D'onofrio, and bringing Noth on was a way to do that gradually.
Does anybody know for certainty what happened?
