I just received the third season of Criminal Intent. Yes! Now, that aside, I was rather concerned about how it was packaged. It has been my experience that double-sided disks are not usually used for collections that are expected to sell especially well. This might have changed, though. Anyone know? And does anyone know if the other L&O titles received the same double-sided treatment?
What worried most of all was the fact that my set didn't come with a booklet insert. When I contacted Universal about this I was told, "Chapter inserts are no longer packaged with this title. Universal Studios Home Entertainment strives to take advantage of the benefits provided by the DVD format, and we put as much information as possible on the DVD itself, instead of on inserts and other paper packaging. All of the information normally provided on the inserts (e.g., chapter information and production notes) can be accessed on the DVD itself through the main menu." Does anyone know when Universal started doing this? Or what other titles have been affected? And would anyone mind telling me what the booklet contained?
Thanks!
(I did check, but I hope this hasn't been posted before.)

I just ordered the third season so I'll let you know when I get mine. I'm wondering where Season 2 went - I'm new to the boards so maybe this was covered in a previous discussion but if anyone can tell me how to get my greedy little mitts on season 2 I'd be ever so grateful.

Season 2 isn't out yet. Apparently it's about to be released in the UK, but no word yet for on when it will be out in the US.

I've got the Third Year DVD's and mine came with a booklet with the production, guest stars and episode synopsis'. I don't understand where on the discs it was actually mentioned. I could understand there response if none of those under the same title had booklets but... does that mean your dvd's have different features? I don't like the fact they are double-sided either, that makes them easier to get finger marks on, although I am careful. Year One is single discs, and hopefully Year Two is single discs as well. Mine was double sided, too but it did come with a booklet insert. I dint think they expected it to sell as well as it did because I can't even remember how man stores I went to (I kept getting the 'we're sold out' line) I finally ended up at Best Buy where I snatched the last one they had off the shelf! A friend told me that printing double sided DVDs is cheaper for the companies then doing the six disc's thing. I have heard from SVU & Mothership fans that the other seasons of those L&O's are also double sided & also seem to sell well.
