Great Episode! I counted six co-executive producers and three exec producers which usually makes a story worse but no everyone did a really good job. It's like they've transported all the innovative stuff from CI to the mothership. Even the villainess was as slippery and deft as I'd always wished Elizabeth/Nicole to be second and third time around.
Here something on Mr. Sisto...
Jeremy Sisto jumps into 'Law and Order' lead Tyrone Warner, CTV.ca
New "Law and Order" star Jeremy Sisto tells CTV.ca that while he made a big splash on cable, he has no plan to change his style for network TV.
"As an actor I don't think as much about the difference between cable and network as it is the difference between the genres of shows," says Sisto.
Sisto is best known for his recent portrayal of Billy Chenowith on HBO's "Six Feet Under."
Sisto will play Detective Cyrus Lupo, partner to Detective Ed Green (Jesse Martin) in the 18th season of "Law and Order."
The actor looked to his own step brother, who just became a real-life officer, for some perspective on the role.
"He was telling me last night that he's spent 33 years of his life, you know, kind of avoiding conflict if he can, what you're trained to do when you're young. And now he's gone through a process of having to do the exact opposite," says Sisto.
"When you're in a room and you see this horribly annoying person who's violent and angry and too drunk for anyone and most of us turn the other way and say, you know, let's go to the other side of the room. But it's your job to have to go talk to that person."
Sisto isn't the only new addition this season. Actor Linus Roache joins the series as Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Cutter. Cutter is the new replacement for Jack McCoy (Sam Waterson), who has been promoted since Fred Thompson left the series to pursue a bid for the White House.
Roache and Sisto previously worked together on the series "Kidnapped."
The new season of "Law and Order" debuts on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 with a special two-hour episode starting at 9 p.m. ET

That was certainly an interesting episode. I'm going to have to see NBC's airing tomorrow to catch what I may have missed.
I'd wager that "her slipperiness" could take on E/N, with no problems whatsoever! ;D

The Mothership already has aired in Canada? That's unusual, isn't it? I thought, because it was produced for NBCUniversal, NBC got first airing. That's very interesting...I wonder how it came about.

Wow, what a great episode! It was like watching an episode of CI, but with more lawyers! Let's count the ways....
~ A Nicole Wallace-like villain who has taken on other people's identities.
~ "I'd say the student surpassed the teacher." This quote brings to mind the exchange between Goren and Declan Gage.
~ Kim Brodie claiming she had been kidnapped by a prisoner, similar to the plot of "Prisoner."
Anyone have more? I need to watch this again.
BTW, Lupo is studying to get into law school? Are they already setting up Jeremy Sisto's departure?

I think what set this one apart from the usual episodes is that she pretty much got away with so much. You don't see that very often. Maybe she will make another appearance down the road. Lupo......you make it worth watching.

Diab, I also find Jeremy Sisto very attractive. He character isn't as cool as Goren ,but he's close. Even my husband noticed the Nicole Wallace qualities of the villain. After her little confrontation with Lupo, he said "Is this one going to call him "Bubbie?" I found this woman to be much more innocent acting, intelligent & manipulative than Nicole ever was. What a conniving little monster! I was so happy that Mike didn't let his desire to nail her get the better of him. Great little twist at the end, too.

I found this woman to be much more innocent acting, intelligent & manipulative than Nicole ever was. What a conniving little monster! That makes both of us. UO was more the polished chameleon than this one. UO had a knowledge and appreciation for opera, literature, rich suave men and a grandiose life style. The new villain likes money also but projects to the unaware a sweet naive girl victim. With UO the fangs are apparent but ignored. The new girl in town has her fangs hidden.

Diablo, what does UO stand for? I saw it in the other thread re Nicole and I can't figure it out.

LOL, damn my cheatin' heart but I think I'm over my Goren thing and now I'm sleeping with Lupo in my mind ;D Goren, at one point seemed to be taking law courses at night school too. I don't know what became of that. Maybe he gave it up when he let himself go... Diablo: I always thought N/E became a professor to prove to the world she was sauve and clever. She seemed a bit insecure about herself in that sense in a way that Brody isn't. Both women seem to be genuinely brainy (in a psychotic way) But the Brody character didn't seem to need for other people to see her as special. Nicole's weakness seemed to be that she hated how she grew up and what she grew into. Every time Goren pressed that button, she fell apart. Of the two, Brody is way more tricky a villainess and I bet she'd get on Nicole Wallaces' last nerve They should fight it out claymation-style.

Just rewatched the segment in the car when Green is teasing Lupo about his slow reading of the textbook. He says, "You wanna get through law school you're gonna have to pick up the pace a little bit."
So Lupes is IN law school already. Hmmm.

I'm surprised none of the characters picked up on how much legal knowledge brody had - especially if they were in law schools themselves. A paralegal wouldn't know nearly that much.

I could be wrong on this....memory playing me again, but I thought UO became a professor of literature because she killed the real professor and stole her identity and her money. It was a way to escape Australia and the killing of her child. I think she purposely chose the professor because it allowed her to travel in circles that would open doors to the good life. If she needed to 'move on' she would have access to the necessary people and finances to make that happen. She could rub elbows with the uppercrust of society and the perks that brings. I got the impression Brody wanted money. Only money......and the things lots of money can buy. Either way, I think we have a new villain of the scene. Perhaps there will be a return of some kind. Just so she can needle the new ADA like UO rankles Goren.

I noticed that too. She was very visble when whispering in her attorney's ear obviously telling him what to say. No one seemed to pick up on that right away.

Diablo, what does UO stand for? I saw it in the other thread re Nicole and I can't figure it out. It stands for Unmentionable One. Kind of a way to say her name without actually saying her name.

I thought UO became a professor of literature because she killed the real professor and stole her identity and her money. It was a way to escape Australia and the killing of her child. Either way, I think we have a new villain of the scene. Yes, you're right about the plot mechanics. I was thinking more of Goren's comments in the interrogation scene in Anti-thesis, when he says she wanted him to see her as the sparkling little girl and then a similar conversation happened when he tried to convince to reveal where she'd taken the little girl whose dad was poisoning her. Goren always seemed to be unmasking her or getting her to admit who she really was as part of his way of catching her. There were also a few moments when in N/E episodes where the dialogue indicated she kind of believed her alias life was more real than what actually happened to her. The distinction, for me, is that on some level Nicole needs the persona of a sophisticate for her own survival whereas Mary(?) brody dons it because it's expedient. We haven't seen the last of the brody character, I agree. There are too many mysteries in her character for a mystery show not to pursue - like her real name for instance. On another note, I noticed during the credits that the producer credits were all CI writers (SenGupta, Janowski, etc) I admit I've never much noticed the mothership's writing credits before so I don't know how much writing cross-over there usually is among the shows generally. I was just so struck by how LOCI the mother ship was this week.
