I don't know if this is serious or just blog speculation (boldface is mine):By Christopher Campbell
Let the dream casting for the Jerry Garcia biopic officially continue. Favorites so far include Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jack Black, Jeff Bridges, Peter Jackson, Jorge Garcia, Paul Giamatti, John C. Reilly and Vincent D’Onofrio. Or how about Adam Herschman, who played the Grateful Dead frontman in Walk Hard?

I read that as well, but to me it is the person from the blog "speculating" on "possible`s"! The original article, did not however name anybody for the role, just that it was gong to be in the works.

I know VDO is considered an acting chameleon but he's too old for this particular Jerry Garcia story. As many know, Garcia started playing with the San Francisco band that would become The Grateful Dead when he was 20. Boldface mine. AL P.S. Considering the tragic later years of Garcia's fried life, it seems clear that the first days weren't the hardest days. (See author's lead, below). --------------------- Arts, BrieflyThe New York TimesCompiled by Dave Itzkoff November 13, 2008 Excerpt: " Biopic: Wayward Youth of Jerry Garcia Are the first days truly the hardest days, as Jerry Garcia once sang? Movie audiences will have a chance to find out, as a group of film producers is preparing a biopic about the early life of Garcia, the musician and counterculture symbol, before he joined the band that would become the Grateful Dead, The Hollywood Reporter said. The producers Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa (“Election,” “Little Miss Sunshine”) and Eric Eisner ( “Hamlet 2”) have acquired the movie rights to “Dark Star,” an oral history of Garcia’s life by Robert Greenfield." www.nytimes.com
