Written by (one-time prosecutor) William N. Fordes and his fellow co-EP Keith Eisner.
I need to watch this one more time before commenting, if for no other reason than to catch all of the Rene Balcer-inspired references. (For example, "Concordia City College").
Anyone else see this episode?

weird episode last night. Hard to remember today. I love Keith Caradine, but this role and episode was so so, The writers wife was a CI repeater, from Proud flesh and Beast, don't feel like looking up her name. Also the Defense lawyer was Trudy from Poison, wow almost didn't recongize her! in end game they made her look the same, but here she is so different. Those were about the best highlights. OH and I love the Cutter/McCoy banters.

I liked the episode. Possible Spoilers * * * * * * Nice twist at the end - didn't see that coming. Also had to smile when Jack told Cutter to do what he thought was right, showing faith in his judgment. I felt so badly for the Detectives, having to shoot & kill someone. Especially Lupo, who looked especially troubled. I wonder if it's his first kill? Funny line from Anita about how few of the rounds fired actually hit the suspect. Keith Caradine was excellent, as was "Trudy" and the oriental wife from "Proud Flesh." Nice to see LOCI alumni getting work. Rene would obviously know their abilities.

RC, the supporting players in "Take-out" were practically a festival of former CI guest actors.
J Smith-Cameron ("David Sutton's" attorney), so memorable in "Poison," was also featured as one of Brady's victims in "Endgame."
Cindy Cheung (wife of the victim), also played the Chinese wife to the central Rupert Murdoch figure in "Proud Flesh" and had a bit part in "Beast."
Neal Jones had a three-show run (all Logan episodes) during CI Season 6 as the Chief of Detectives Bradshaw.
Stephen Singer ("Garvik's" lawyer) also played a lawyer in the Season 2 CI episode "Monster."
There may be more. That's all I've picked out so far.
As for the Rene Balcer connection to the story: Not only is the main suspect identified by his "Concordia City College" t-shirt (Concordia University in Montreal -- Balcer's alma mater -- is the institution that awarded him an honorary doctorate last year)...
...but Balcer is a Chinese art expert (reference all of the scenes at a gallery featuring Chinese political art); recently he has been re-editing a book on it. Balcer's wife -- Carolyn -- who collaborates with him on philanthropic activities in Asia is (I believe) -- an artist and graphic designer of Chinese descent.

Lupo's prior experiences have been in the Middle East. Therefore, I thought it was cute, although improbable, that he seemed to understand the Chinese spoken by the wife in interrogation. It's rather Goren-esque, so I liked it!
AL, Thanks for the reminder of Mr. Balcer's interest in all things Chinese. His knowledge helped authenticate the episode. I especially liked the wall details in the international legal aid office. I wonder if that was filmed on location, in an actual agency?
Charming that the ADA's ate Chinese "take out" while discussing the case. That office orders Chinese food often, and the staff always uses chop sticks. In all of my years as a bona fide New Yorker, I don't know anyone who uses chop sticks to eat Chinese take out. Is it a preppy thing, I wonder?
