USA has posted a multi part interview with Ed Zuckerman, showrunner for the Nichols/Wheeler episodes: Ed Zuckerman USA InterviewSpoiler: Under the New Episodes section, Ed tells all regarding Wheeler's reasons for missing the last two episodes. Very interesting plotline.

A BIG thank you Donnajo. I never think of going to that site. Nice interview. Bodes well that Ed Zuckerman is one of the co-writers of the superb Law & Order episode in which Mike Logan left. Zach Nichols is a man of mystery and I hope the writers keep it that way. Always adds an edge to a character. Glad to hear that the writers are allowing Jeff to keep his comedic talents. They appreciate that he is a really funny guy! A complete surprise about the Wheeler character! Ed Zuckerman is my new favourite writer. Thanks again Donnajo as this would have passed me by!

Terrific interview. Sounds like Jeff Goldblum has been matched with the right showrunner.
It also appears that we're going to see some fun and romance in Zack Nichols' life.
Mr. Zuckerman really ratcheted up my interest in the N/W episodes.

Oh I'll read this after I'll be back from work! I'm too much in a hurry and wouldn't want to miss any of it!

Oh this was nice!
The little quips and CSI and CBS were hilarious!!
I really like what he's saying and therefore I'm really looking forward to seeing Nichols and Wheeler. I really like that they give JN something "meaty" to act, even if it was forced by outside factors. I think JN needs that stuff, and it'll help her character develop.
And how great is that introduction to Zack Nichols? I'm absolutely curious to see that on screen...
Maybe I'm being a naive 24-year-old - but I'm thrilled!

It sounds like the Jeff Goldblum episodes are going to be really good. I am really looking forward to watching his episodes. And as someone who works in a psych hospital let me say that people hiding out in them is very true. We get patients who are trying to hide from the law and trying to hide from other criminals. And we have also had a few who are indeed trying to set up an "insanity defense". It rarely works. We can usually spot them a mile away.

Thank you for the inside information Idget. I never knew that psychiatric hospitals were hiding places for the criminal fraternity.
I look forward to that extra dimension you will bring to the episode discussions.
