They voted F because they're childish and spiteful. End of story. I gave it an A+ because it reminded me of early Goren and Eames. I love Zack! Maybe they are, but I'd still love to hear why they voted F. We always have a reason for things we do, right?

You can whistle in the wind Z-girl for any explantions.
Hope I'm proved wrong, but somehow I doubt it.
Trisha's explanation stands until refuted by the "F"s, otherwise end.of.story.

We already knew Patcat from your comments. Always intelligent, balanced and articulate right down to the last apostrophe and full stop. If Z-girl agrees, we'll share our TV boyfriend with you. Caveat: You can never have Agent Fulbright!

I gave it a B as a compromise.
Goldblum gets an A+ for bringing the awesome to Nichols as I figured he would. I always find him fun and delightful and he did not disappoint.
The rest (plot, writing, directing) gets a D+/C- because it was painfully average, if not slightly below.

Thanks for asking Zack'sGirl aka Goldblumbabygirl (I was wondering where you went to, glad to see your still here! my reasons are as stated by other posters: Goren died inthe middle of season 4 and has been reincarnated in the personas of Zach Nicholes Well I don't think Goren died in season 4, but by 6 & 7, the man sure had some mega issues. I won't disagree. But my feeling there should only be one Goren per LOCI I know it may smack of bad taste to others to remake Nichols and Wheeler in the old Goren and Eames images, but, hey, it's a combination that works so well and everyone likes so much. And, not to disrespect our beloved writers and Mr. Balcer, No disrepect to Rene Balcer either, however I expected a different character not another clone of partners. I don't get it, this Forum was in an uproar when they tried to make Barek a female Goren. Now this season its acceptable, if we go the Goren/Eames clone route??? Plus the episode was so/so, I might have given the episode an E if the choice was there. Ahhhhh who am I kidding. I like Jeff Goldblum as an actor, he's cute, but I don't like the ideal that they are trying to make him into another Goren. Funny I felt that way, when they hired Jeremy Sisto for L&O, another Goren clone. His cloning is more in the looks department....now, this cloning seems to be more in the quirky personality.

Hey Cassie, it's all fine Like I said, we all have reasons for our acts or Ideas. I was just curious why It got a F. Thanks for the explanation.

Cassie, the Goren character at his most basic is a retread of many, many other great and famous literary characters. Mr. Balcer actually listed them in his interview to us.
Everyone who loves Goren and never saw anything like him before gets on that wick -- oh, they're copying Goren!
Goren is a copy. When you accept that, maybe it will be easier for you to understand why people can like Goren and still find Nichols and Lupo and Monk and Raines and House etc, ect, ect interesting.
ETA: I'm sorry for the name calling. In my defense, the silent F's did smack of childish spite, all things considered.

To get back on track. . .
I can see where the storyline wouldn't get an "A". It was pretty easy to figure out, and pretty contrived. But Zach made me laugh and I really loved his "chart". Had to give him the A+. Especially for the line about Milli Vanilli! I am still LOL about that one.
And what's even funnier to me. . .he did not remind me of Goren aside from the distracted nature of his thinking and muttering. Zach is very different from Goren, even S1-3 Goren. Zach has a confidence that is quiet and unassuming. Goren was cocky and arrogant in a way that suggested insecurity. And it showed, as Patcat stated in another thread, when he was misunderstood, either by mistake or on purpose. Goren's confidence was a front. Zach's is not. Different characters with maybe a couple of similarities in the "brainy" department, but personality-wise, not really the same at all.
I feel like I'm rambling here! LOL! And I do have to add that as a bona-fide DroolingFanGirl of Bobby Goren, I have managed to disagree with plenty of people on the subject of Bobby's recent transformations and character arcs, and never once have I felt attacked for same.

OBC, I totally agree with you re: Goren and Nichols. There are plenty of shades of quirky/genius/oddball to go around. I think so far (with only one Nichols outing) they aren't that similar at all, especially for the reasons both you and Patcat have examined in regards to their confidence or lack thereof. The one welcome similarity for me was Nichol's enjoyment and keen interest in the hunt and capture of the baddy. That is something I enjoyed in earlier seasons that I feel has gone away so I found it a very welcome return!

The absolute glee on Zach's face was another of those really nice moments. And the thing about the "two-fer" and how he said "Sweet!" right at the end. Adorably well-done by JG.

I thought it was a good introduction... overall gave it a B+. Higher marks for Goldblum as Nichols pulled up the overall score.
