Took my boys (ages 6 & 12) to see "Titanic the Artifact Exhibition" at the Discovery Times Square Exposition in NYC yesterday and it was fabulous. Upon entering you receive a boarding pass with the name and information of a real passenger and you do not find out if the person lived or died until the very end of the Exhibit. The Exhibit is full of Artifacts recently recovered from the Titanic...it is amazing what they have found...china, lightbulbs, razor blades, jewelry, playing cards, money. All in amazing condition. The Exhibition tells the story of Titanic from conception through construction, from sailing to its ultimate destruction. It is a fascinating and solemn experience.
My 12 year old guided himself through the exhibits while I led my 6 year old through reading him the exhibit panels and showing him all the artifacts. What is really nice is when you purchase your tickets, you get a time to enter so the exhibit is not that crowded and you have room to move around and you can take your time and look at everything. In the end, my 12 year old's person died, my 6 year old's survived and my person survived but her brother and fiance died....it makes me wonder how she lived at 20 years old, alone in New York and unable to speak English.
If you are in NYC or planning a trip, I highly recommend visiting. You can buy tickets online. It is expensive but well worth it. The Exhibition is also in the following cities, but I am not sure of the dates...Lisbon, Portugal; Idaho Falls, ID; St. Paul, MN; Las Vegas, NV; Montreal, Canada
