"Kids don't lie." Isn't that what Goren said? I believe that, and feel so bad for that child who was forced to hide out in the attic while his parents got their 15 minutes of fame. And wasted thousands of tax payer dollars.
It could have been just the Dad. According to witnesses, the Mom was truly frantic. Or she's a good actress.

You could be right, my sticking point was when the father gave that speech about not supressing a child's energy. Really? I don't want to meet that family in a mall.

Today's news: Criminal charges to be filed in case of U.S. balloon boy© REUTERS2009DENVER (Reuters) - Criminal charges will soon be filed in the case of a 6-year-old boy who spurred a frantic search for fear he was inside a wayward helium balloon, but who was later found safe at home, officials said on Saturday. The Larimer County Sheriff's department was preparing charges over the much-publicized incident. The boy's father, Richard Heene, an amateur scientist and inventor, has denied speculation Thursday's incident was a publicity stunt. A massive search-and-rescue operation and media frenzy ensued after the Heene's homemade helium balloon broke loose and drifted thousands of feet above Colorado for hours. "We do anticipate ... there will be some criminal charges filed in respect to this incident," said Sheriff Jim Alderden, speaking to reporters in a news conference televised on CNN. He said initial charges would likely be a misdemeanour. The department was preparing search warrants, he said, adding the possible misdemeanour charge "hardly seems serious enough given the circumstances." He said the department was in contact with federal authorities and additional federal charges were possible. more at news.uk.msn.com/uk/article.aspx?cp-documentid=150297960

Authorities thinks the kids puked during interviews because their parents (father?) drugged them.
this sounds like a Ripped from the Headlines if ever there was one.
crazy

I think the kids vomited because of their inner turmoil and conflict between obeying their parents and being forced to participate in a stunt even they at their young age know is wrong. If it turns out that this was indeed a hoax and publicity stunt, the parents not only should be subject to criminal charges, they should be investigated for other incidents of child abuse. Plus they should have to pay restitution for the cost of the wild goose chase search and rescue operation.
I think about how many people watching this "drama" unfold on TV got personally invested in the fate of 6-year-old Falcon. If this was a cruel hoax, they should sue the parents for damages from emotional stress.

I have no desire to say anything about this event, but thanks to caitlen I know have an image of Bobby Goren as a Simpson character.

I give no quarter to those who would abuse their kid, wife, or fake wife, like he did on Wife Swap.

Amen, sister.
I've never seen Wife Swap, but CNN did run some clips of him screaming at that poor woman. One can only imagine how he treats his own wife, and worse, the children.
And, yeah, I can see a guy like that drugging the kid, or at least browbeating him to keep his mouth shut, except to answer practiced lines, to the point that the child became ill with fear.
What a horror of human being.

He threw milk at her!
Gives otherwise decent hippie families a bad name, if you can call them that.

They don't seem very "hippie" to me. They seem more like opportunistic jackals -- ready and willing to devour their own young.

If you haven't already, be sure to see the new mothership episode "Reality Bites." It was on last Friday. It's all about reality shows and how crazy people act to get on (like murdering someone).
